ANA TRAVELING SEMINARS
As a benefit to ANA member clubs and organizations, the American Numismatic Association offers two-day educational seminars, usually in
conjunction with a club or regional show, on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to:
-
Fundamentals of Grading United
States Coins
-
Advanced Grading of United States Coins
-
Counterfeit Detection of United States Coins
-
Introduction to Numismatics
-
Introduction to Grading Paper Money
The tuition for participants is $445 for a 2-day seminar with a $100 discount for members of the ANA and the
host organization. Income over and above expenses is divided equally between the host organization and the ANA.
Expenses:
Sponsoring clubs are responsible for all expenses associated with the course including:
-
Administrative and scheduling fees - $250 (non-refundable and payable in advance).
-
Instructor(s) travel - including airfare, airport parking, shuttles and/or taxis.
-
Instructor's lodging and meals - one night's lodging for each day of class plus one or two additional nights depending on travel needs. A
hotel with medium or large safe deposit boxes on reserve for class materials is preferable. For security reasons, it is best if the seminar is held in
the same hotel. Instructors receive a $55 a day per diem for teaching and travel days.
-
Shipping - class materials, coins, books and supplies are shipped via U.S.P.S. or Federal Express and are covered by ANA insurance.
-
Classroom, tables and audio/visual equipment rentals. The classes are usually held in the hotel, in a room suitable for viewing slides. Equipment
may include an LCD projector or 35 mm slide projector(s), screen(s), tables and enough incandescent desk lamps, electric outlets and extension
cords to accommodate the number of registered students. (Please verify with ANA before reserving equipment as instructor needs may vary.) It is
the responsibility of the club representative to reserve the classroom, tables, AV, etc. for the class. Note: Clubs may want to consider
purchasing lamps, electrical cords, power strips and other reusable supplies as rental costs will often exceed the purchase price.
-
Show table. If the seminar is held in conjunction with a club or regional show, the instructor may represent the ANA during the show. They may be
available to present an educational program, and/or perform other functions on behalf of the ANA.
-
Promotional materials and postage. ANA will email promotional brochures and registration forms to ANA members in the vicinity of the Seminar.
Additional brochures are made available to the host organization for distribution.
The ANA provides instructors, hands-on and instructional materials, PowerPoint or 35mm slide visuals, hand-outs and study guides, promotional
brochures, zippered, vinyl briefcases and an ANA certificate of completion for each participant.
There should be one instructor and one host organization helper for each 20 students. All seminar arrangements are made jointly by a designated
host organization representative and the ANA.
Registration forms are returned to the ANA allowing participants to pay with checks or credit cards. Once enough students have registered, ANA will
secure airline tickets or travel arrangements for the instructors.
For more information or to schedule a seminar, please contact the ANA Education Department at least six months prior to seminar dates.
