ANA Convention Programs
for Young Collectors

ANA YN Awards Breakfast

One of the highlights of the annual ANA World's Fair of Money® Anniversary Convention is the Young Numismatist (YN) Awards Breakfast. YN’s and their parents are invited to join other young collectors and adult numismatic mentors for food, fun and friendship. The tickets are available in advance from the ANA Convention Department or at the Outreach/Education table during the show for $5/YNs and $20/adults (or FREE to adults if accompanied by a child!)

During the awards ceremony, YNs are recognized for excellence in writing and exhibiting with award plaques and certificates.

  • Abe Kosoff Memorial Literary Award, presented to the young numismatist who writes the best article or gives the best talk on a numismatic topic in 2004. (Original conclusions are encouraged, especially when logically presented.)
  • Gould Memorial Literary Award, presented to the young numismatist who writes the best article displaying in-depth numismatic research and individual, specialized involvement with the topic. (Article need not have been published.)
  • Ray Byrne Memorial Literary Award, presented to the young numismatist who writes the best article displaying in-depth numismatic research and individual, specialized involvement with the topic. (The article must have been published in 2004 in Numismatist or other recognized publication.)

ANA YN Convention Auction

Another highlight of the annual ANA World's Fair of Money® Anniversary Convention is the YN Auction where young collectors bid on numismatic items (coins, currency and books) with special YN Dollars earned by completing hobby-related activities like attending ANA-member coin-club meetings, coin shows, and educational forums; preparing an exhibit; or giving a talk about coin collecting at school.

Before the auction, YNs and their parents can complete the "How to Earn YN Auction Dollars" form and collect their money or check out the auction catalog and decide their bidding strategy.

For more information, please contact the ANA Education Department at education@money.org.
