Amazing Exhibits a Headline in Portland
Had an 1845 coin flip
turned out differently, next week's National Money Show would be in beautiful Boston, Oregon! Thanks to the Oregon Historical Society for exhibiting
"The Portland Penny," an 1835 large cent used to determine the name of a site in Oregon Country then called "The Clearing."
The Olsen specimen 1913 Liberty Head nickel, the most famous
of five known, joins the McDermott/Bebee specimen in Portland. The coin was featured on a 1973 episode of Hawaii Five-O titled "The $100,000
Nickel," and was once owned by the infamous King Farouk of Egypt. Thank you to the owner for this special addition to the show!

Make A Statement With Life Membership
Nearly 5,600 ANA members have made a commitment for life. And now hobbyists have more options for choosing Life
Membership and all of the benefits that come with it.
Life Members include the hobby's best authors, most accomplished collectors and successful dealers. Most will tell you
that they wear their Life Member pins and convention ribbons as a badge of honor, representing a commitment to supporting the hobby they love.
Under a recent rate restructuring, the ANA offers payment options including reduced rates for those 55 and
older, a new two-year payment plan and a reduced rate for those who choose to receive their monthly issue of The Numismatist online.

News From the Money Museum
The Edward C. Rochette Money Museum was recently featured on the Denver TV program Colorado Getaways. Curator Doug Mudd talks
about the Civil War exhibit and other special items on display (watch the video here). And in a story from Colorado Springs, a
search by a World War II veteran's daughter results in an array of Short Snorters and a look into her father's experiences at
war (read the story here).
