I believe the ANA Board must go back to the grassroots of the Association—-its members and clubs. The ANA is for its members. We must correct all the past legal problems and work toward maintaining a balanced budget, keeping the ANA on its educational mission, and reaching out and teaching all ages by offering to educate as many as we can in a cost-effective way.

We must strive to make the ANA easier to work with. The better the communications, the better we can operate.

I favor expanding the ANA’s educational services and reviewing the ANA’s current programs to ascertain what works. The U.S. Mint’s 50 State Quarters Program® drew many new collectors into the hobby, and we should attract them as new members. The hobby of coin collecting is a great way to promote history and educate the public, with such programs as “Coins in the Classroom” and basic collecting courses. I’ve been involved in various aspects of the hobby and enjoy working toward getting more people interested by educating them as to the misleading ads and Internet problem coins that cause headaches for the honest collector and dealer trying to explain that the item is not what it says.

I’ve held offices in local, state and regional organizations (CSNS

governor) and in the ANA (Education Committee chairman two times, and a member of the Board of Governors). I teach coin-collecting classes at a local community college and, since 1995, at the ANA Summer Seminar.

I have won various awards at all levels, including an ANA Presidential Award, Outstanding District Delegate (twice), Outstanding Club Representative, Outstanding Adult Advisor and the Numismatic News Numismatic Ambassador. I encourage numismatic education and collector participation while assisting the youth, by promoting this great hobby through knowledge and by setting collecting goals. The greatest things in life come when you retire to enjoy life and work in a field you love. I hope to continue helping as a Board member for the numismatic community, and I’d like to thank all members for their support and help in this election.
