Bylaw Task Force Recommendations
Summary of feedback through Dec. 14, 2006
The ANA would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide
feedback on the ANA Bylaws and Governance Task Force draft bylaws
recommendations.
Feedback to date is mixed, but the majority of members who provided
comments chose to give input on the proposed bylaw changes governing the
election process.
Some expressed fear that with a nominating committee, candidates
would be “hand-picked” and that committee approval would be
required before being considered for office. Others felt a
nominating committee would encourage more candidates to get involved in
the election process.
Many members said they want to continue to elect the president and
vice president (or chair and vice chair) through a general vote, rather
than a Board appointment.
Members overwhelmingly favored the use of online balloting – as
long as it is just one option and paper ballots can still be cast. They
also agree with changing the bylaws so lost or misplaced ballads can be
easily replaced.
Member comments will continue to be accepted. The feedback form is
available at www.money.org, (click
on “Member Feedback” from the “Communications”
drop down menu).
The feedback was reviewed, discussed and the Task Force
recommendations modified during the FUN Show.
The final bylaw proposal amendment proposal is posted on the ANA
website, and was mailed to the full membership in the March 2007
Numismatist.
The Board will further discuss the bylaw revisions at the business
meetings March 14 and 15, 2007 during the Charlotte National Money
Show.
