ANA Library

American Numismatic Association members can conveniently use the world’s largest numismatic lending library, and its more than 60,000 books, auction catalogs, periodicals, videos, DVDs and slide sets.

Library Hours
10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed Sunday & Monday

The collection features resources and materials on topics such as coins, paper money, tokens, medals, military orders and decorations, and stocks and bonds. There are also volumes on collecting, economics, and banks and banking. Search the library catalog here. It allows ANA members to "borrow the book before they buy the coin."
Located at the ANA's Colorado Springs headquarters, the staff lends materials to members all over the world – for just the cost of postage and insurance.

The library is named in honor of Dwight N. Manley, a former Summer Seminar student and one of the association’s most generous donors.

How to borrow

Making the most of your library privileges is simple.

  1. To start a library account, call the librarian at 719-482-9821. You’ll need to give your name, ANA number, address information as well as a credit card number to keep on file.
  2. Search the online Library Catalog for materials you’d like. Members may borrow books, auction catalogs, and slide and video presentations through the mail.
As for periodicals, the library staff can photocopy or digitally scan pages and send them to members. For this and other services, see our Research Services page. To look up specific articles, please visit the Numismatic Index of Periodicals.
  3. When you’ve selected your library materials, call or e-mail the library with your order. Please include your name and ANA number to validate your request.
Can’t find what you’re looking for? Go to the Suggest a Book page, and let us know how we can better serve you.
Is the book you want checked out? Call or e-mail us, and we’ll put the book on hold. When it comes in, we’ll mail it to you.
  4. Library materials are checked out to members for a six-week period. Members' credit cards are changed the outgoing postage and insurance fees, which are based on the materials' replacement value. Unless otherwise requested, materials will be mailed U.S. Postal Service library rate. When returning library materials, reuse the box your books where sent in and attach the proper mailing labels to the box. Then, take the package to your local post office to calculate return shipping costs.
  5. Want to keep your library materials longer? Call or e-mail the library to renew your materials for up to six more weeks.
