ANA clubs hold shows, present certificates

The Oswego County Numismatic Association's show occurred on Sept. 22. This was our 49th show. We hope that next year is a wing ding of a show to honor our 50th.

In other news we presented a certificate too member Tom Eassa who provided us withan excellent talk earlier this year.

We are also preparing for our election of officers as well as a Christmas party.

The Rochester Numismatic Association informed me via their drawing tickets that their show is coming up on  November 2-3 at the Eisenhart Museum gymnasium.

A multiclub show was held on Oct. 13 in Waterloo at a location beyond my ability to attend. Also on Oct. 27 there will be a Cayuga County Coin Club show held in the Auburn area. The outcome will be posted in the next Mintmark.

Important legislative hearings about taxing coins and bullion in Nebraska

Nebraska currently taxes sales of numismatic items and bullion. On  October 17th and October 18th, the Nebraska State Legislature Tax Modernization Committee will be holding two final public hearings on the possibility of changing that. Those in the Omaha Area are encouraged to attend the meeting on  Thursday October 17th. Those in the Lincoln area are encouraged to attend the meeting at the State Capitol on  Friday October 18th. Those outside Omaha or Lincoln are encouraged to attended a meeting that is convenient or if your state senator is on the committee, you are encouraged to contact them about the importance of removing the sales tax on rare coins and bullion.

This is an important turn of events in Nebraska and for our hobby.  Please show your support.
