Ocean County Coin Club holds show despite hurricane damage

The Ocean County Coin Club was not planning to conduct their annual show in 2013 due to their home meeting location being flooded out from Hurricane Sandy.  They have not as yet returned to the Point Pleasant Beach Firehouse No. 1 for their twice monthly meetings as the volunteer firefighters are still cleaning up the mess.  There was over three feet of water throughout as the building is only five blocks from the ocean.  Many houses were also flooded out. Fortunately, the efforts of the firefighters are putting everything together and it is hoped they will be able to return in January.

Club officials were doubtfull they could handle a show, but only three months ago, it was decided to move on it and the club had the show Saturday, October 5th, at the Beach Firehouse No. 2 that was not damaged. The bourse floor was busy most of the six hours the show was open. The club had 20 tables filled with 195 in attendance that included members and dealers. There was a treasure hunt for the youngsters of which 14 participated and we had four junior members place exhibits for the visitors and they were outstanding.   Approximately two dozen members worked the show which was a large factor in making it a family affair.
