The Exchange : “In God We Trust” Art Contest

“In God We Trust” Art Contest

Salt & Light Global announces an Art Contest to help high school students learn about the amazing history of our national motto: In God We Trust.

The motto, In God We Trust, first appeared on American currency 150 years ago in 1864. Previously, the phrase appeared in a stanza of The Star Spangled Banner. By an act of Congress signed by President Eisenhower, In God We Trust became the official motto of the United States. Now engraved on government buildings and monuments, the motto remains a central part of the history of our nation.
