Candidate for Governor: Tom Mulvaney

Lexington, KY
LM 3607

MulvaneyI believe in promoting strong numismatic education and maintaining fiscal responsibility within the ANA. Increasing membership to include attracting more youth is also essential for the future. We must encourage our 400+ member clubs to invigorate their members to be active ANA supporters. Continued, expanded communication with member clubs is essential for healthy growth.

ANA member benefits (Library, publications, Museum, insurance, educational seminars, conventions, member discounts, etc.) must be more widely promoted. Many members seem unaware of the many valuable benefits available to them. The organization's web presence has been greatly improved in the last year, but it must be further refined and become easier to navigate so all members will regularly use its many available features.

Since 1995, 1 have been a volunteer instructor at the popular Summer Seminar in Colorado Springs. I strongly feel this is the best learning opportunity we offer. Summer Seminar must be expanded to accommodate more members, especially young numismatists. I will actively solicit support from donors and dealers for more YN scholarships. In 55 years of collecting, I have clearly seen where educated collectors make better, informed decisions when acquiring coins for their collections. The knowledge learned in the ANA's grading and counterfeit detection courses will pay back, many times over, during a collector's lifetime. Past attendees of Summer Seminar come back year after year! There must be a reason!

As a 40-year ANA member/volunteer, I have received the organization's Medal of Merit, Presidential Award, Exemplary Service Award, Glenn Smedley Memorial Award and an ANA Honorary Doctor of Numismatics.

I am life member #1 of the Bluegrass Coin Club and hold memberships in FUN, CSNS, ANS, NLG, LSCC, etc.

I graduated from the University of Dayton (Ohio) in 1970 and have attended 36 ANA summer conventions. Since then, I have worked professionally in numismatics as a coin photographer, writer, researcher, auctioneer, etc. Currently, I am a consultant to Coin World living in Lexington, Kentucky, with my wife, Joyce.

Thank you for your support!
