The 41st annual Summer Seminar in Colorado Springs will offer students a menu of two-day and five-day classes, introduce a number of new courses that reflect current trends in the hobby, and feature several new instructors, who are recognized as leaders in the hobby.
The American Numismatic Association will host a 2009-11 Board of Governors Candidates Forum on Saturday, March 14 at the Portland National Money Show.™ The forum will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in Room 119 of the Oregon Convention Center, and will be moderated by Beth Deisher, editor of Coin World.
“Lincoln’s Legacy: A Nation United” has been chosen as the theme of the 86th annual National Coin Week, April 19-25. The theme, provided by Ryan Berman of Baltimore, will help the American Numismatic Association and collectors everywhere celebrate the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth, and his impact on history and numismatics.
The American Numismatic Association’s 2009 Portland National Money Show™ gives visitors the opportunity to see rare coins and paper money, and interact with the country’s premier numismatists. The show, held March 13-15 at the Oregon Convention Center, features marquee and collector exhibits, educational presentations, and hundreds of top dealers.
Executive Director also reports improvement in overall financial picture
Nominations for the American Numismatic Association’s inaugural Harry J. Forman Dealer of the Year Award are being accepted through April 30. To be presented annually, the award honors a professional numismatist who shows uncommon dedication to strengthening the hobby and the ANA, and displays exemplary ethical standards as a numismatic dealer. The award was formally established by a unanimous vote of the ANA Board of Governors on Feb. 18.
ANA member Henry Scott Goodman received the Best-in-Show Exhibit Award for his exhibit, "Ludwig Gies: Cast Art Medals from the Great War," at the American Numismatic Association's 2009 National Money Show™, held March 13-15 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland.
Heritage Auction Galleries donated $1,500 in memberships for young collectors to the American Numismatic Association. As a result, more than 75 one-year memberships were given at the Portland National Money Show™, March 13-15.

Austin M. Sheheen Jr. of Camden, S.C. has been appointed treasurer of the American Numismatic Association, President Barry Stuppler has announced. An ANA member since 1958, he replaces Adna G. Wilde Jr., who passed away in November.
