PNNA to Celebrate 75th Anniversary at Annual Convention

The Pacific Northwest Numismatic Association will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a party on Saturday, May 2 at its annual spring convention in Tukwila, Washington (just south of Seattle). The party and general membership/awards meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., after the close of the bourse. R.S.V.P. to PNNA president Danny Bisgaard, phone (503) 588 8162, email d.bisgaard@comcast.net or info@pnna.org. The convention is a three‐day event, May 1‐3, and includes educational programs and collector exhibits. For more information, please see http://www.pnna.org/convention/convention.html, or call Danny.

The PNNA has also commissioned a 75th anniversary medal with the obverse designed by former U.S. Mint sculptor‐engraver Thomas D. Rogers. The attached cover of The Nor'wester convention special edition features artwork for this medal. The medals will be struck in silver, copper and antique brass, and should be available at the convention. Sales information will also be posted on the PNNA website. The PNNA was founded in 1940 by the Seattle Coin Club (now the Seattle Numismatic Society) and the Oregon Numismatic Society. A page of 75th anniversary trivia, including photos of a few souvenirs issued over the years, appears in The Nor'wester, which can be accessed as a PDF online from a link on the PNNA homepage. A more complete PNNA memorabilia catalog is available online at http://www.pnna.org/catalog/index.html.

In addition to the annual convention in Tukwila, the PNNA hosts a fall convention and coin show in Portland, Oregon, in conjunction with the Willamette Coin Club. Fall convention information is posted at http://www.pnna.org/convention/convention_fall.html.
