My proposal for the fiftieth anniversary

Coins | Haney

I recently took a trip to the Houston Space Center and was really looking forward to seeing a Saturn V with my own eyes. As a youth, like most of my generation, I really wanted to be an Astronaut studying every image I could find of the lunar missions. The video of the Saturn V with chunks of ice cascading down as it cleared the platform was always impressive. The idea of launching what was basically a skyscraper toward the moon was unimaginable. Almost as much unimaginable as the fact that it has been over forty-five years since anyone has set foot on the moon today.

One of the First Eisenhower Silver Dollars

Coins | DrDarryl

Another recent purchase added to my "presidential" collection. This time it's a White House letter from President Nixon gifting a 1971-S uncirculated Eisenhower silver dollar (in Blue Pack) to the Honorable Robert G. Stephens on August 6, 1971.The uniqueness about this acquisition is the establishment of the provenance (unbroken chain of ownership) of this Eisenhower dollar. I was ecstatic to learn that this specimen was actually being sold from the estate of the Honorable Robert G. Stephens. The chain of legal ownership is President Nixon-to-Congressman Stephens-to-yours truly. The number of "'-to-" in the previous sentence is two. Which means as the current owner, the specimen is two degrees of separated from President Nixon.

I Still Like Ike

Exonumia | DrDarryl

Most of you know that I have a keen interest in the medals awarded/issued by President Dwight D. Eisenhower based on my blog entries. Well, I kicked it up a notch by making a donation to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial that is to be built in Washington DC (see image of letter and "I Still Like Ike" buttons). The official Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial website is :http://eisenhowermemorial.gov/#memorial/design?p=0The Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial also has a youtube.com page. In one of their videos, if you look hard enough (starting at time 01:48) you will see a plaque that resembles Eisenhower's inaugural medal.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1gxhh0jUe4A great video ...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0NytKxcgbc

1977-D Eisenhower Dollar. MS-64 2% Straight Edge Clip.

Coins-United States | SilverStackerKid

I bought this amazing and beautiful Ike dollar for my collection. It is a PCGS graded MS64 2% straight end clip. These errors happen when a blank is punched from the end or side of the sheet of metal, and the press is off, and does not cut a whole blank. The Blakesley effect on this coin is amazing! I dropped 70 dollars on this. I am very happy with my purchase.
