1988 D Reverse of '89

Coins | user_23578

Hi I'm Sam, and I am 17 years old. I was coin roll hunting a box of pennies a couple of weeks ago and came across a surprise. A 1988 Denver penny with the bold FG initials variety. This is a semi-rare variety labeled as the "FS-901 Wide AM" by PCGS. It is also called Reverse of '89 by many collectors. My example has many zinc blisters and is a nice red and brown. In high grades this coin can fetch a couple hundred dollars. I think that is pretty good considering I picked it up for one cent! I've included pictures of the specimen below.

Today I would like to share a very special coin I just received. I saw these on a coin group on Facebook. The guy selling is named Joe Poanessa but, as you will see, he is out of them.

1984 P "Prisoner Cent" Extreme Die Clash Found

Coins-United States | SilverStackerKid

An excellent example of a die clash. This 1984 cent has some amazing toning too. I grade it at 65+. I found it in a jar of cents my grandparents had in the attic in Alabama. This coin had been in a hot and humid attic for about 23 years! The jar had coins up to 1992. Pretty awesome find. Next time ANACS has a sale, I might send it too them along with some other really nice coins.

Here I have a coin that I originally bought as an investment coin. I have since fallen in love with it and hope to keep it. As you can see, it's 2008 W Silver Eagle with a Reverse of 2007. It also happens to be a MS 70 Early Release. It has a very limited run. It's estimated that only 47,000 made their way out of the mint before the mistake was discovered. The difference being the reverse dies of 2007 and earlier have a plain U in UNITED. Modified dies of 2008 and later have a small serif at the bottom right of the U. It stands out if you know what you are looking for but you have to be looking for it.

ANACS Confirmation of Lincoln Cent No FG FS-901

Coins-United States | Longstrider

This blog is to help clarify one I put up on Oct. 17 called 1969-D Lincoln Cent Missing Designers Initials. I found this coin while roll hunting. It looked, to me, like it didn't have the initials of the designer on the reverse. I took a couple of photos and posted it on the above mentioned date. Some people agreed with me and some didn't. They could see the initials. To settle this dispute once and for all I sent the coin into ANACS for grading and error/variety check. It came back,as you can see, just as I thought, this time. Just goes to show that two people can look at the same thing and see different things! Please check out the old blog and tell me what you see. Thanks!!
