2021 Morgan Dollar

Coins | CoinCollector7777

For this blog, I will be talking about the expensiveness of the 2021 Morgan dollar. First of all, I don't think I will be able to buy it without complete satisfaction because the silver value is (I'm pretty sure) literally worth like less than $20. The U.S. Mint is going to sell them for $85 (according to Google). $65 for what? The rest of the metal in the coin? The design? Is it high relief? Or does the U.S. Mint want to make money even though they'd probably make more if they sold it for like $75 or something? My conclusion: the U.S. Mint is WAY too overpriced.

Would Coins Be Worth Anything If Nobody Collected Them?

Coins | CoinCollector7777

Yesterday, I was on a Facetime call with my grandma and grandpa. My grandma thought that if nobody collected coins, then there wouldn't really be a value for collectible coins. We collectors only make them valuable. For example, if only two people collected coins, and they had all of the 1913 Liberty nickels, then they wouldn't sell them for a good price to each other because they were not in high demand. They would sell them for like a dollar. But since there are a lot of collectors that want them, and there is a low mintage of them, that makes the 1913 Liberty nickels rare. So if there were not any coin collectors, coins would only really be worth their melt value. Thanks for reading!P.S. My grandma had a Morgan and a Peace dollar, the Morgan a 1896 P dollar, and the Peace was I think a 1923. I was hoping that the 1896 had an S mintmark, but it didn't. It looked like it was in AU. (She sent me a picture.)

How I Got Interested In Numismatics

Coins | CoinCollector7777

This is how I got interested in Numismatics. One time two relatives came over to our house to visit us. One of them told us about the 1943 copper penny. Me and my brother thought we could find one in circulation. We didn't know there were only like 21 or so minted. I knew I had a 1946 wheat cent, so I looked up how much it costed. I thought $42,000 or whatever. We kept on searching. Then suddenly, we stopped searching. About a year later, we started again. We just couldn't resist it. Later, we found out we couldn't find a 1943 copper sent, so we just started collecting. Then we went to a coin store. I'd say we spent around an hour there, and we didn't get anything. Next time we went, we got some stuff. Then we get more and more interested in coin collecting, and we get better and better. Suddenly, I just started looking under my mom and dad's bed, and guess what I found? Two 1994 World Cup Proof and Uncirculated sets! I was so excited and showed my brother. We looked up how much the gold coins were worth, and bragged that we had real gold coins (made of some silver and I think some nickel). After that, I went to some more coin stores. And bought a lot of coins. I think I spent over $600 on coins! We are here now (or at least I am lol).

1878 S Morgan Dollar VAM?

Coins | CoinCollector7777

Just yesterday I was looking at some of my Morgan dollars for VAMs. On my 1878 S Morgan, in the motto, the "r" in "trust," well, the curve is cut off. It looks kind of like a little l. You can see part of the curve, but it looks kind of like a die break right onthe r. Do you think it's a die break or just chipped off? If you look at it real close, you can see that that part is shorter than the rest of the r.

New Morgan Dollar!

Coins | CoinCollector7777

A few days ago I got a Morgan dollar from Amazon. It arrived yesterday. It is an 1881 S dollar, and it has some pretty toning on both the obverse and the reverse. It is graded and slabbed by NGC. It is graded MS-62, but I personally think it should be graded MS-63. The reverse looks like it is a high grade.

The Dollar Project Coins

Coins | CoinCollector7777

Just today I got all of the coins from the dollar project. The first one was a George Washington 2007 D presidential dollar. The second one was a 1971 P Eisenhower dollar. The third one was supposed to be a Morgan/Peace dollar, but I got something else. AN AMERICAN SILVER EAGLE. I needed one for my collection! It's dated 2015 but doesn't have a mintmark, which is normal. The fourth prize was supposed to be a Canadian dollar, but instead I received a 1975 Canadian mint set, with a Canadian dollar. So I got extra. If you can do the Dollar Project, do it. It's worth it. P.S. Wait around a month for the coins to arrive.

What I Bought At the Coin Show

Coin Shows | CoinCollector7777

I just arrived back from the coin show I mentioned in an earlier blog, and these are the coins I got. A 1902 O graded and slabbed Morgan dollar graded by PCGS in MS-63, a 1904 O Morgan dollar in MS-64, an 1889 Morgan in MS-62 or 63 which I got $4 off, a free 1956 BIE error cent, and a 1964 minor broadstrike graded and slabbed cent in RB 65 graded by NGC for, yes, $1. Oh, and here are all of the deals I got. So, someone gave me a $4 discount, and on the 1964 cent, someone let me have it for $1. It was originally $25! And, when I didn't have enough money to buy one Morgan dollar, some RANDOM STRANGER GAVE ME $20 SO I COULD BUY IT!!!!! Wow! Anyways, thanks for reading this blog! P.S. Sorry for the blurry pictures.

Coin Roll Hunting

Coins | CoinCollector7777

So a little bit ago I went searching through 800 cents and 4 rolls of nickels. I found a few wheat cents but nothing valuable. I found one coin that I think has a doubled obverse, but I'm not sure. Also, I found a cent with a dot underneath the date, I don't know if the workers at the U.S. Mint tested the hardness of the die, give me your feedback in the comments. I also found one or two cents with "S" mintmarks, but were not proof. I saw one of my rolls of nickels that looked like it had extra nickels so I counted how many nickels there were and counted 42. So I took two out. And I found a dime in a roll of cents. So a 19 cent profit! Yay! I'm rich! Lol! I found two rolls of pure 1982 cents and one with 1982 cents and 1982 D cents. Oh, and my oldest find was a 1917 wheat cent. I'm also getting a 1881 S Morgan dollar in MS-62 which is graded and slabbed by NGC. My first slabbed coin! And it's a Morgan dollar! Yay!
