Possible New Auction Record!

Coins | CoinCollector7777

When the May edition of The Numismatistcame, I read somewhere that the guy (Weitzman) who owns the 1933 double eagle is going to auction it. It also said he is going to auction the rarest stamp in the world, and another rare stamp. People estimate that the double eagle will sell for 10 to 15 million dollars, breaking the auction record. It will take place on June 8. Weitzman is 79 years old. He said: "No one takes a U-Haul to the cemetery." He says he's going to donate the proceeds to various charities.

It should be worth more than that on just the story alone.

I'll put it some where around 17 million plus the commission.

We'll see what they go for. I think I read something about that a while ago, too. I really like his attitude. Thanks.

Must be nice to own such rare collectibles. 10 to 15 million dollars for a coin is amazing price. Wonder how many people will be bidding on it?
