Department of Commerce special Government medals (sGms)

Exonumia | DrDarryl

Images from my ongoing research of the Department of Commerce special Government medals.  The bronze medal was recent acquired. A snapshot of my research was presented in an exhibit at the 2018 ANA World's Fair of Money. Not the placement of Frank Gasparro's hallmark.

There are  a total of six sGm series identified in my ongoing research.

I added a new photo relating to the silver meritorious service medal. The original recipient, Thomas C. Mason, was honored at the DoC Thirteenth Annual Honor Awards Program in 1961. This is one of the possible traits in collecting special Government medals, the ability to track the recipient with original documentation from the U.S. Government. The DoC honor medals first convocation was in 1949.

Nice work. Boy, they couldn't have made those initials much smaller. Thanks for the arrows.

I own all the specimens shown in the photos of this blog entry...

I am glad you were able to acquire these, they are something special, and congrats on the achievement.

Lovely medals. Such detail. I'd love a close look at these w/my magnifier.
