Winged Liberty Head Dimes

Coins-United States | Ship_Coin_Guy

The past few weeks I have begun studying Mercury Dimes. It is a pretty interesting series. I am looking forward to heading out to the Low Country Coin Club show and seeing what more I can learn as I search through the dealers inventories. Wish me luck.

Thank you for all of the comments. The layout of the website hides some things and I guess I did not know where to look. I kept seeing that someone commented on my post but only today saw where those posts were located. My apologies. I did not mean to be ignoring you. I did not make many purchase of the Winged Liberty dimes. It seems at this show the dealers did not bring many dimes. I guess they are going to carry only what is selling or popular at the time. It makes sense to me. I will try again at the next show. I was using the "A Guide Book of Mercury Dimes, Standing Liberty Quarters and Liberty Walking Half Dollars " For my reference. Be well and good hunting

You picked a wonderful coin to specialize. There are a few books to help with research. This coin will always be popular. Good luck and have fun with it.

That's a great series. It was one of the first that I collected.

Buy the book before the coin. You got it. That is a very good and interesting series of coins. It is also obtainable in a bunch of price levels. Good luck!

Oh, this is such a great series of US coinage! Some great rarities and varieties can be found with a little/moderate diligence. If you want a really "fun" cherry-pickin' search, see if you can find a nice, uncirculated example of a 1945 (Philadelphia) with fully split bands on the reverse - and if you actually find one, be prepared to pay a small fortune; so hard to find those. Happy hunting!

Your doing the right thing. We call it read the book before you buy the coin. You probably will hear that a lot. Listen enjoy the show that's what this hobby is for. Have a good time.Mike

Good Luck Tony, Research is awesome & so is getting your hands into the mix too - Seeing is the greatest

You're smart to do your research first. There's an old quote in the hobby that says, "Buy the book before you buy the coin." May you have good success!
