Large Dollar Coins, Morgan Dollars, Part Four :)

Young Numismatists Exchange | ZanzibarCoins

Well... I just realized I never actually wrapped up this blog series. So, here we go lol. It's been too long since I've been on here -- senior year has decided to suck away all of my free time lol. That, and moving. Agh. Seventh time? Eighth? I don't know. At this point I've lost track lol. I aced that presentation though, I have yet to hear how I did on the paper that went with it, but fingers crossed... I have really missed being on here. Just out of curiosity, what are y'all's plans for this Christmas, and/or next year? I am so excited for both Christmas and the coming year. One of the things I am most looking forwards to for next year is our prom. I did not get a junior prom, thanks to COVID, but we will be doing a prom this year, and I am so excited! (I'm actually on the committee lol) But anyways, Morgan Dollars...

Large Dollar Coins, Morgan Dollars, Part Three :)

Young Numismatists Exchange | ZanzibarCoins

Hi everyone and here is the third part of the Morgan Dollar blog post series! :) I was unable to find the time yesterday to finish it and put it up, but here it is now. :) In this article, I want to talk about the beginning of the production of Morgan dollars. I'll do it in story form, since some of y'all liked that, and also, it is fun for me. So yeah. :) Here we go!

Large Dollar Coins, Morgan Dollars, Part Two :)

Young Numismatists Exchange | ZanzibarCoins

Hi everyone! We have been out of town for a while, and we had a lovely vacation in Wyoming, going to Yellowstone and Grand Teton (beautiful, the both of them!!). But I'm back now! I hope to, possibly, have two posts today, because I was working on them a little while on the road, but the second one isn't done yet, so we shall see... Anyways, Morgan Dollars part two! The hunt for a designer, a model, and a solid idea for the design! Here we go! :)

Large Silver Dollars, The Morgan Dollar, Part One

Young Numismatists Exchange | ZanzibarCoins

So my dad and I recently stumbled upon someone liquidating their late father's coin collection, who didn't exactly know what they were selling. They happened to have ten large silver dollars that they were selling for around spot (then lol, it's changing all over the place right now). When I saw what they were, I about had a heart attack from pleasure. My dad had originally planned on purchasing them simply for their silver content, but as it turned out, two of them were Peace Dollars, and eight of them were Morgan Dollars! And half of them were in really good condition too! We have added them to our large dollar collection (technically a Morgan Dollar one, but since it contains some Eisenhower Dollars, and now Peace Dollars, I'm calling it that lol.), and I thought, why not blog about them? Because they, Morgan Dollars, right now, are simply gorgeous. The design is classical, elegant, and breathtaking. The weight and size are delightful, and the story behind them is a cool one.

Star Trek Coins Part Three :)

Young Numismatists Exchange | ZanzibarCoins

Well, it has been a crazy month. A lot of people I know (including me) had been hoping that this virus would be wrapping up by now, but sadly that hasn't happened yet. My schools graduation is at the drive in, which means a limited amount of people, so I don't even know if I'll be able to go see a good number of my friends graduate, or see two of my best friends give their speeches as valedictorian and salutatorian. We got nine inches of rain in two days, and the first day, with seven inches in that one day, our first floor flooded and we had to do a lot of work with that. Yesterday we were out in the rain with a jackhammer and some shovels digging a drainage trench around the side of the house and praying that the lighting wouldn't decide to have fun with some ground strikes. My coin collection almost got stuck in the floodwaters but I fortunately was able to move it right in time, since I found it also right in time (talk about adrenaline oh my gosh...). My sister and I got followed by a cougar while we were out riding up near some of the cattle, and the cougar followed us halfway back to the house (once again, adrenaline!). We adopted a two year old German Shepherd and a Jack Russel Terrier puppy, and rescued three abandoned kittens, although sadly we cannot keep them all (I know, we're crazy. Quarantine man. LOL. I mean, what better time for new animals to settle in when their humans CANNOT GO ANYWHERE! Is the stay at home stuff wearing on anyone else or is it just me? LOL). The rain washed our mulch pathways to the barn, chicken house, and well house away, after we'd worked so hard to make them (sighhhhhh). School ends this Tuesday, and our big virtual choir performance is going to be soon. Prom got canceled. So did the spring choir concert, and the spring dance. We might have prom in June or July though. The end of the school year picnic got canceled as well, but we might have that in the summer. All in all, it's been crazy, but I should probably stop and get to the coins now... :)

Star Trek Coins Part Two!

Young Numismatists Exchange | ZanzibarCoins

"Space, the Final Frontier. Normally, leaving the Earth's atmosphere to experience that final frontier is beyond the capabilities of normal individuals, but now you can explore the cosmos by boarding the USS Enterprise and sailing through the stars with all the crew members. From Scotty to Spock, the Borg to Tribbles, and Kirk to Pickard, everyone is here and ready to go on an expedition through the stars and to your collection. Several Mints around the world have released Star Trek coins that span multiple series and feature various beloved characters. I'm not a doctor, but these Star Trek coins would be the perfect fit for any Trekkie's collection." (quotefrom govmint.org I figured it would be redundant to start this post like I started the other one, and I though that this was a neat way of putting things.) :)

The Silver Eagle Dollar Coin, Part Two

Young Numismatists Exchange | ZanzibarCoins

Hi everyone! This post is slightly later than I meant it to be. I wrote it originally about half a week, or a little more, after I published the first part of it, but then, when I hit "publish", the post completely vanished, and it didn't go up. (Has this ever happened to anyone on here before??) It just pulled up a page that said "ERROR" in red letters. Sigh. And, of course, this was the one time I forgot to copy my post and paste it into a pages document just in case something went wrong. So, after spending about an hour and a half on what turned out to be an almost 800 word blog post, it was gone. Just gone. And, though I tried many different things, there was no way to get it back. And then, before I had a chance to rewrite it, we went out of town (amazing winter break trip, to the Grand Canyon. So beautiful! I highly recommend it lol). But now we're back, and here I am, rewriting this blog post for a second time, from scratch, although this time I assure you I will fully be copying it all and pasting it into a pages document before I try to publish it or anything. Here's hoping it goes up this time... :) Okay. Here we go. The Silver Eagle Dollar Coin, special editions.
