Free Silver!!!

| CMCC

To make the non-numismatic story short, my oldest brother just turned 10, and we celebrated his birthday by taking our normal Bi-weekly visit to a farm in Pennsylvania. While out in the area, we had some ice cream, and walked around Newtown and Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania. While in Newtown, I saw a little coin store, and we decided to pay a visit to it. I immediately knew that this was no coin store to be buying valuable, or even everyday silver coins at. At my coin store in NJ, dimes are $1.31 each, but this store charged $3.00 each. Also, low-grade halves were $10, compared to the $6.61 I paid the other day. I did notice a bin of cull coins. I found an 1868 Two-Cent, a PO-0 Capped Bust Half Cent, a PO-1 Half Cent, and a 1856 Seated Liberty Quarter in VF Condition that was obviously metal detected and had at one time had the top of the coin cut off. This coin was only worth $2.00 melt, and probably wouldn't sell for more than $3.00, but I treasured it. Unfortunately, no one had cash, which was the only form of payment that the coin store accepted. However, as we prepared to leave, he said I could keep my favorite of the bin. I picked the Seated Liberty Quarter, and he let me have it. I have no idea what mint it is, as the mintmark area has been cut off, but I assume that it is the common 1856 Philadelphia.

My Second Seated Liberty Coin Ever! Now I need one that is not damaged!! (The other one is a smashed 1853 With Arrows Half Dime)

Jersey Coin Showcase in Hazlet/Keyport, NJ. The one I visited was somewhere near Washington Crossing, PA, but I would recommend the former.

Enjoy being a YN as long as you can. Coin stores don't give out free stuff to us old farts. ;-)

Nice! I wish I could get some free silver. Sorry about the seated liberty coins.
