The Experts Guide to Collecting and Investing in Rare Coins; Chapter 1

| CMCC

Eliasberg did the impossible: obtained one coin of each date, mintmark, and denomination. He spent $400,000 on his collection; but, after his death, his collection realized more than $40,000,000! That does not include more millions from Eliasberg's foreign coins.
Koshkarian's superb gem 1797 Half Dollar was obtained for $220,000. He resold 16 years later for a handsome return of $960,000.
Bareford's Collection, assembled from 1947-1954, cost him $13,832; in a series of four sales from 1978-1985, the collection realized $1,207,215. In 2005 (when the book was written), these coins would be worth about $12,000,000!
Pittman's Collection, assembled from the 1940's to his death in 1996, cost Pittman several hundred thousand dollars in the process, but sold for about $30,000,000!

In 1953, a dealer friend of Bowers was offered $200 for an 1895 Morgan Dollar, and he accepted it. In 2005, a superb gem was worth $65,000!

I don't want to give away every bit of information, or else you won't want the book, because I am giving it piece by piece to you. I thought the historical price guides would be interesting. I ignored the introduction, because I found that chapter 1 is more of an introduction.
I will provide Chapter 2 tomorrow or Friday!
