The New 2022 American Women Quarters

Coins | CheerioCoins

Welcome back to my blog. Today I will give information and facts about the new 2022 American Women Quarters.

The first and only quarter so far that has been distributed is the Maya Angelou Quarter that were distributed on January 10, 2022 just a couple days ago. I went to my local bank but they didn’t have any of them so I don’t have any yet. If you want them you can get rolls of them from the Mint Website on February 7, 2022.

These Quarters Celebrate achievements that U.S. Women have made. There will be 5 each year from 2022-2025. Also the obverse changed to a profile view of George Washington composed and sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser. I really liked the old obverse better but they haven’t largely changed the obverse since 1932. The 2022 designs include Maya Angelou who was a writer, poet, performer, social activist, and teacher. Then Dr. Sally Ride who was a physicist, astronaut, educator, the first American woman in space, and third women to ever go to space. Then there is Wilma Mankiller an American Cherokee Activist, social worker, and the first principal chief of the Cherokee Nation. Next there is Nina Otero-Warren a women’s suffragist, leader in New Mexico’s suffrage movement,  and the first female superintendent of Santa Fe public schools. Finally there is Anna May Wong a American actress, the first Chinese American film star in Hollywood, and the first Chinese American to get international recognition. All of these coins I am exited for and hope to get a few of my collection.

Thanks for reading my blog and have a great day!

I plan on collecting the silver quarters, but I won't be grading them. I've decided to collect them intact in their mint packaging.

Well I will look for them in change but just for fun. Not interested in collecting them. That's just me. They would make a fine collection.

The multi-year themed quarter programs have long served their purpose, my opinion. Had they not used Laura Gardin-Fraser's original Washington Quarter winning design back in 1931, I probably would only have them within sets in my hoard. A nice write up on these.
