Must be doing something right

Coins | user_7180

I have been working with my grandson using a zip scope to view Lincoln Cents for the last year. So it was very gratifying to receive feedback from his parents that he had a tough time picking a Birthday card for me until he found the one pictured. They said "he knew it was the perfect card". The image of the Lincoln cent on the inside of the card springs out from the card upon opening. Now that is cool!

Well the Silver Dollar & Rare Coin Expo wrapped up today. Lots of interesting coins, currency and exonumia. If you could not find fun at this show you were not trying hard enough. With 83 Dealers from 22 states the ballroom was wall-to-wall collectors paradise. There was also the Live Auction of 1,015 lots on Friday evening. Some fantastic items were being offered. Some of the key item lots were: 1804 13 stars dime in XF-45, 1882 Morgan Dollar in Proof 68 Cameo, 1930-S Gold Double Eagle MS-63, 1927-S Gold Double Eagle MS-64, 1921 Gold Double Eagle MS-62, ... When they publish the final sales figures I will share those too.

Images of Frogs on coins - Question

Coins | user_7180

I purchased one of the 2016 Mark Twain coins for my grandson. He has a fascination with all things frogs. Now that he is understanding money and collecting I figured it was time to help him learn that he can easily combine his interests. We can dive in together to learn more about Mark Twain and his stories starting with that famous Frog. My grandson asked the question "How many coins have Frogs on them"? Good question already! I told him we could ask our ANA Community for help with the answers. So, does anyone know of other coins with Frogs? Thanks for your responses in advance!!!

Finally found first 2017 coin in change

Coins | user_7180

Well it took almost 6 months into the year, but my grandson finally received a 2017 coin as change. A 2017-D Jefferson Nickel. He is so happy about it, for the time being it has erased those daily disappointed non-find days. The coin we found is certainly not the one pictured. The one he received has the typical bag marks, but we will gladly take it and look forward to the next 2017 coin whatever it may be.

Is this why no 2017-P Lincoln Cents have shown in circulation yet

Coins | user_7180

A friend told me about seeing a recent episode of the Coin Vault in which they BRAGGED they bought 100 Million of the 2017-P mint-marked Lincoln Cents, so they could sell them for a profit. Is this why we cannot find them in circulation? If private companies are intercepting new US Mint coins before they go to banks or maybe even earlier than that (before they go to the Federal Reserve Banks) should that not be considered illegal? What gives?
