Be Careful When Buying Coins Tokens and Medals

Coins | Mike B

Hi everyone I decided to write this to warn you about the color of raw coins ,Tokens and medals. After just looking on different sites on eBay I noticed the color of this case tokens. Civil war and Conder tokens. Now I saw orange color tokens. I can tell you from experience there are no orange tokens. So I sent a message to the seller. His answer surprised me. He said he does it with his phone or device to show imperfections. So I said but you don't say that what color is it. Dark brown. It seems some devices have a choice of colors to choose from. I said you should included that so the buyer knows what he's paying for. No responce.

Underrated Coins, Medals, Tokens

Coins | Mike B

Hi everyone. I was looking through my old blogs and noticed I never wrote one on underrated coins. As well as medals and tokens.. We all own some. My question is why don't these coins get the respect they deserve. I own a 1931 S.mint cent. Those who commented said basically the same thing. Let's look at it. One of the lowest minted cents made. Mine is a MS 64 yet the rarity condition and desirability does not reflect in the value. I'm just going to cover a few then I want you to tell me what you think is underrated. There are Mercury dimes, nickels there's one the 1997 Botanical Nickel. Twenty five thousand made. A matte coin in MS 69 underrated . Think about it twenty five thousand made with a special finish. Try and well it for the price they list. You get a no thanks. Kennedy halves very underrated. Even the silver proofs. Now.I have been buying many different coins medals and tokens over twenty five years and I buy some for value some because I just plain like them.

The price was fantastic I have seen one for a high price on eBay and Esty had it for a very high price.. I was shocked so it said buy me so I did.

1794 D&H 86 1/2 Penny Somershire Bridgewater Britian

Tokens | Mike B

Well I am going to take this slow. I'm not taking any chances yet. Below you see Holloway half penny. Remember the English called the penny's we call them cents. What the designer is showing is a Georgian building and shop. The obverse says "I Holloway and Son Drapers & C" The date is on the bottom 1794. This was done all over England. Buildings would act as post office. The first stamp ever issued was the Penny Black. It has a picture of Queen Victoria. A restrike of this was made with a silver coin and the stamp was black with the Queen. I think about five years ago.

The 175 Anniversary Medal Ancient Order Of Hibernians

Medals | Mike B

Hi well it seemed like forever but thanks to everyone who helped out during the site problem I had. This is not just a test but a blog on an important organization. It was founded in Ireland a few century's ago. We were organized to protect the church and the Catholic Prriest. You see the price of a priest head was the same as an Irish Wolf Hound a big beautiful dog. But England wanted to practice genocide on the Irish people. The old saying I will leave a light on in the window for you came from there. It meant a priest traveling at night this was a safe house.

Warwickshire Coventry D&H 272 Kempson

Tokens | Mike B

Well my friends the final piece is on the way. It left the auctioneer has mailed it. It has a tracking number and while its home i will have it for a day or so. The auctioneer said he hasn't seen one in ten years. He thought they were all gone. Lost mixed up with thousands but my friends here at the ANA looked thru thousands and could not find it. If they can't find one in England or here I have to agree this might be I said might be the last one. They looked in England at Some of the great auction houses. None. So when it gets here I will get to look at it for two days then of to NGC to be graded a MS and slabed. The other news will come in a nice blog I will take a picture of it but if I can't load it then there is no sense in writing the blog. I had hoped to put up all 19. I have seen blogs with fifty pictures so when they do fix it and I know they will it will be written. If not then there is no sence. The story is about our hobby and what we can do. I want everyone to say if he can do it so can I. And you can. You can put any set together mine took five years looking for this set. Patience and when your finished utter joy. The feeling is remarkable and the brothers and sisters here will help. Your real friends are the ones that will help. They will look at a show and get the dealers name he will put it aside and you talk to him get a price that fits both of you and you have another coin. There are type sets so many ways to enjoy this hobby. And when you see this 221 year old set all in MS you won't know how did you get a P.L.or a red brown. Well they took good care of these. They knew there value. They were kept in a strong wood box with a felt hole that fit the token. Then cover it with another felt piece. Then tightly kept it in a corner away from Sun and heat I'm sure others had there own way. So that's the update for now I know good news is coming about the site. Take care everyone Mike. Remember you can do it time is on our side.
