The Eagle Has Landed.

Coins-United States | Long Beard

2008marks a historical moment in the history of United States coinage with the striking of the Sacagawea Dollar. This was the final year for an eagle to grace the reverse of a business struck coin dating back to 1792 as the mint has begun redesigning the forth coming 2021 Washington Quarter. However, this is as of yet set in stone so to speak as the mint weighs public opinion per Thomas V. Johnson, Chief of Corporate Communications for the mint. Or at the very least left the door open in a recent Coin Week interview. https://coinweek.com/modern-coins/what-happens-to-the-washington-quarter-after-2021-us-mint-weighs-its-options/

Ameica's Last Large Dollar

Coins-United States | Long Beard

In recent years collector interest has shifted towards the Eisenhower Dollar, once overlookedexcept for those who specialized in this series. Over the past several years I've seen an increase from collectors through forum posts and at coin shows only to see the market place confirm as much in recent years. A look at any major auction house on any given month produces what were once unheard of prices, particularly in high grade. Registry numbers at the top third party graders are also on the rise. This weeks blog entails this curious and under appreciated coin. Enjoy!

Those Challenging Seated Liberties

Coins | Long Beard

As a new ANA member, new in the sense that I joined December 28, 2019, thus far I've neglected to share with you any of my personal collection through blogs or posts. As this had not been by intent, this weeks blog touches with just that. A Seated Liberty Dime purchased this morning from David Lawrence to further add towards completion of an extremely challenging series. Especially with an eye towards consistency from beginning to end. While the single coin image is that provided by Mr. Lawrence, I need to further my close-up photography skills for future posts. None the less, this is the overall look across the series.

The One Dollar Mystery

Coins-United States | Long Beard

As 2021 approaches, and with specific legislation still pending, the public and collector community will see the firstMorgan and Peace Dollars struck in decades. The last Morgan in 1921. While the final Peacestruck and circulatedwas in 1934, this was not the last struck intended for circulation. This weeks blog deals with just that. A coin surrounded in mystery and lure, authorized and monetized, struck in large quantity only to vanish. Or did they? Enjoy!
