My First YN Auction Win!

Young Numismatists Exchange | thatcoinguy

Hello fellow YNs and YNH!

I am super excited, because I just purchased my first coin with YN dollars! I decided (because there wasn't any lots that I HAD to have) to drop what I thought were lowball offers on lots one and two. The following lots were available from October 1st to October 15th 2021. The first lot was a VG-8 1881-CC Morgan Dollar. Those who are reading this blog two years from now might think: WOW! We NEVER get anything that valuable at OUR YN auctions! But! It was cleaned. Still, though. Sadly, that lot was NOT my YN auction bid. The second lot was a 1979-S Jefferson Nickel with a Type II cameo proof. That one I won for (what I think is a good deal) of 75 YN dollars. I have mailed them to Colorado, and I will post pics the moment I get it in the mail. Lot number three was a AU-58 Almost Choice Uncirc. 1963 5 Francs from France. I did not bid on this lot. Congrats to the lucky YNs who received lots one and three, and I can't wait for next month to see which lots go up for auction! By the way, update coming soon with some nice stuff. Keep your eye out.

Keep collecting,

Sounds good to me. Well done.

Oh wow... an 1881 CC Morgan! I would accept it even if it was cleaned! Sadly, I don't have that many YN $'s, but I might be going to the money museum in a little while. Nice win!

Well out of the blogs you wrote this is my favorite. Congradulations on the nice pickups. Don't worry about the coin being cleaned. There are people who collect them!!. Waite to you get them. Take care of them and you will have great coins for a long time. I like the auction program Sam set up for you guys. Win somemore!! And tell us about them. !!

Congratulations and glad you got something nice. YN auctions seem like a great time. We have out monthly coin club auctions which are usually good deals if you want whats being auctioned.

Congrats on your win! Ya, someone grabbed that '81-CC for over $YN375 (since that was my bid). I didn't even really think about bidding on the nickel, and I guess others didn't either, so you got a great deal!

Gotcha. I didn’t think so, but good to know.

And about the Morgan, if it was uncleaned, it would be worth around $100. But since it is cleaned, my guess is that it would be worth more around $50-$75

The difference is the clarity of the S mintmark, the type I is blobby, while the type II is not. According to PCGS's price guide, there isn't really a price difference for the nickel, but it is different for the '79-S TII SBA dollar, which is worth quite a bit more than the TI

Dang… did’t think it was worth THAT much since it was cleaned (my bid was $YN250). And, yeah, it was an awesome deal! Is the type II worth more than the type I? I don’t really know much about each type and wondered if you could fill me in.
