Q&A #1: @CoinHunter

Young Numismatists Exchange | thatcoinguy

Hello fellow YNs and YNH!

I had been reading blogs from past years, and stumbled across an interview of a fellow blogger. I really want to know more about you guys, so here is my first one, with @CoinHunter!

Elliot AKA CoinHunter is the face of roll searching here on this site. His personality is like no other, and I love waiting every week for his update. He reminds us all that though Morgan and Peace dollars are awesome collectibles, circulation coins can be amazing as well. Without further ado, my Q&A!

Q: How old are you?

A: I am almost 16.

Q: What is your favorite coin?

A: I would have to say the Flying Eagle Cent.

Q: What is your favorite error?

A: My favorite error is probably a coin with multiple clips, or maybe a mule.

Q: How did you start collecting?

A:I basically started collecting after watching an episode of "Dennis the Menace" where he started a penny collection. After watching the episode, I went through my brothers change to find unique dates, and stumbled upon a 1944 wheat penny, which, I would say, is the coin that got me even more interested in collecting.

Q: How long have you been collecting?

A: About three or four years.

Q: What is your favorite collecting story?

A: One time while I was at my bank, I asked if they had any $2 bills (upon my brother's request, he likes collecting currency) and the teller showed me their only two, a 1976 (the one my brother needed) but as the teller said, it "Had stuff all over it," and she said she "Would see if they had a nicer one". But they didn't, so I just got it and presented it to my brother. But he didn't want it because of the "damage". Before I spent it, I looked at it a little closer, and realized that it had a cancelled stamp on it. Not really damage. So I looked it up and found out it was a special and worth around $15. As soon as I told my brother this, he knew he had made a mistake. I have it to this day (I might sell it to him eventually, but not for now).

Q: What are your thoughts about the upcoming YN auction?

A: I am really excited because I was able to earn a lot more YN dollars this year than last year, and I should be able to actually win something in the auction.

Thanks Elliot for taking the time to talk with me via messages. @LongStrider, if you are willing, I would love it if you would be the next interview. Just let me know via messages. Thanks for reading the blog!

Keep collecting,
