Colorado Springs teachers can win a free trip to Money Museum
Elementary school teachers in Colorado Springs School District 11 have the opportunity to win free transportation to bring a busload of students to the Edward C. Rochette Money Museum for an educational field trip.
Five lucky teachers will win free field trips, including transportation, for their classes and accompanying chaperones to the Money Museum.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for students and teachers to learn about culture, arts, science and history through the study of money," said Jay Beeton, the ANA's Education and Marketing advisor. "Whether it's learning about the very first coins made more than 2,000 years ago, why famous people appear on our money or how money won the Civil War, we have no shortage of educational offerings at the Money Museum."
To be considered for the free field trip, teachers are being asked to write a short message of 150 words or less explaining how their students would benefit from a trip to the Money Museum. Submissions can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or sent via mail to the American Numismatic Association, attn: Rod Gillis, Numismatic Educator, 818 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
The deadline for entrees is Jan. 27. The winners will be announced on Jan. 31.
Winning teachers are encouraged to visit the museum for free before the field trip to become more familiar with the museum's exhibits. Additionally, Gillis is available for an in-classroom guest talk either before or after the field trip.
