ANA correspondence courses

Dear friends,

I have also just completed all the Numismatic Scholar Diploma Courses including the last overall test. Yhe courses are all fantastic and every coin collector should consider taking them. The Grading Certificate Course was really great as it will help you not only to become a better grader but most important, to be able to understand whether a coin you want to buy is indeed in the grade the seller claims that it is.
My favorite course was the Detecting Counterfeit US coins. With all of the fakes that are circulating, having the knowledge to detect them will certainly save you a lot of money and will protect you from disappointments.
If I may give one advise regarding the last overall exam. In my humble opinion, since you have made all of the courses and all of the info is fresh in your mind, then just go for it! Study well the questions that you have already answered during the individual courses and I am sure that you will do very well on the exam. It will really give you a sense of fulfillment.
All the best

Hi, I'm Malaysia and I started the course in late 2013 and finished it in July 2014.

Great course overall, did the overall test and received my "Numismatic Scholar" certificate. A "must do" if you are serious about numismatics.

Highly recommended.

I just got the courses in the mail. What order should I do them in?

You can do them in any order that suits you. My advice is to start from what you already have knowledge in and then move to more advanced courses. Personally, I started with the Intro course and then moved to the rest.

How long did it take you to complete?  I don't have a whole lot of time to work on it maybe about 4-5 hours a week.  I was just wondering if I will get through it all within the 2 years.

It took me about 22 months with the final exam. I did not follow a schedule for studying as I am also quite busy. I worked on it during weekends whenever I had no other social obligations. If tou can keep this schedule that you mentioned of about 4-5 hours a week, you will surely finish it much earlier than I did.

I've done all the programs and received the Numismatic Diploma. I'd agree that you should start where you have the most knowledge and move forward. All the courses are very interesting, but can be a little dated. The staff is in the process of revising several of them, and they'll be extremely helpful with any questions you might have. The final exam (covering all the courses) is challenging, but you can pass it with a little studying.
