Something needs to happen with the US Mint artificially creating rarities. I got an e-mail from a dealer offering to buy the WWII privy gold proof coin for $6000.00. The Mint posted it for $2600.00. Naturally, I thought to give it a crack. However, the site crashed and blocked me after I hit the refresh button one too many times. I'm not angry that I didn't get it because I never intended to keep it. But I am a little upset that dealers were already offering bounties for the coins that you know they will flip for a whole lot more. As a taxpayer, why can't the Mint reap at least a little of that profit by charging a somewhat higher price to begin with?24 days ago
Crash and Burn
I just tried to get in. No luck. I couldn't even sign in. They are using that Captcha crap. Enjoy the oops screen.24 days ago
On the 17th it'll get worse, on that day they are going to sell the 400th Anniversary Mayflower gold, and Silver sets as well as the reverse proof silver coin and individual coins all at the same. It's gonna be a cluster#@*#!
That's odd ! I received the 2020 Holiday collection and gift guide in the mail yesterday which advertised these coins and more ! I really liked the Limited Edition Silver set and it was affordable at $210 !14 days ago
What's the old saying ? We buy what we like. This to me is just another money maker for the mint.. I looked at all the coins. There faces are down like there sad.No one is smiling. They come 3000 miles they should be celebrating but no. They should be smiling but no. It's the first coin I have seen. With the wrong expressions on there face. No name on the ship. To me it's not worth it. It's just another man made rarity. Explain why Britain got into it. They left there in fear of there lives.. It doesn't make sence. But the Mint has made you want one because of the mintage.. Here is the test! WOULD YOU BUY THIS IF THE MINTAGE WAS 100,000? I bet then you wouldn't.. Everyone would be happy. But no the mint is playing games. This rarity for a unhappy coin has to stop. Again I say Ryder has made this a terrible year.
Big Nub Numismatics
They play the games to make them win, Mike is right. I doubt many people would buy these coins if they couldn't make a profit.13 days ago
Mike says it best. No, I wouldn't buy that uglay, depressing coin if I couldn't turn it for a nice profit. That being said I will be up nice and early tomorrow to view the "oops" screen. Maybe..13 days ago
