Dinosaur Extinction?

I just read that the company responsible for publishing the Numismatic News, Coins, and the annual Standard Catalog of World Coins, among many other publications/books has declared bankruptcy.  I currently subscribe to Coins, subscribed to Numismatic News for many years, and have bought many other publications.  I feel sad, I think the move to make all media digital is obviously having a negative impact on print media.  I hope those publications and others are able to reorganize and weather the storm.  But the trend away from print is extremely powerful and will not be turned back.  In fact I read this information on the computer.

This is very upsetting. No wonder Mr. Harper retired this year. He was the editor of the Numismatic News. I enjoy it. Now.we go to the computer again. I think your right.Money that's all its about. That magazine I would look forward to. This is not the way the hobby should be going. The printed word is more important than the computer. More memory gone. No I will not get it on my device. No one should why don't we send a message. Thanks for the terrible information. Pat.

Terrible news indeed! I have always  loved magazines and I am old enough of course to remember when that is all there was (along with the newspaper,etc.). Some people say it doesn't make a difference, just put it all online. But it's not the same. We know that.

I even find reading online unpleasant, much easier on the eye to see real print.

I saw this coming. Upset, to say the least. I do not like reading online, not Kindle, not any. This is quite a blow to the collecting community. How on earth can anyone read trends online?

It's sad. Some people can't afford big computers. Some use phones. You can't read on phones other devices it's as big as the regular computers. We do what we have to do to learn about the hobby. But I will not read on any computer or device. So I'm just saying these magazines are important to the hobby. I have been in the Numismatic News many times. Why? Because it's a collectors magazine. They would print your opinion no matter what it was. It was fair. I liked to keep them now I cant.

Very troubling news. I will not be getting any of these online. I want to hold the magazine in my hands.
