European Bank Hoard

I have a question...the gold coins that came out of the European Bank Hoard…why weren’t those coins looted by the Nazis?  If all of Europe was overrun and their banks taken over, were these banks then that had the coins in England?  Where were these vaults that could have survived the extensive searching/looting by the Nazis…or after WWll, did these coins come from former Nazi-controlled banks?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

The Nazis needed banks for the financing of their war.  So the banks did had some leverage to get the Nazis to not totally loot them.
