Agreed. How about these other holy grail pieces?
That 2 1/2 dollar piece is a beauty. I have that Star-Spangled Banner Bicentennial Silver Dollar Set. My wife and I toured the Denver Mint a couple of years ago, and I saw that coin in the gift shop. I ended up buying a proof Silver Eagle because it was so beautiful, but after we got home, I couldn't stop thinking about the Star-Spangled Banner coin and called the mint up and had it mailed out to me. That was when I started collecting with an emphasis on Commemorative sets I wanted and Silver Eagles.
I have always really wanted that Star-Spangled Banner silver $. I have this thing for coins with Lady Liberty on them, and that is one of the coolest in my opinion.
I have that same "thing" for Lady Liberty.
 Awesome!

That is one I have not heard anything about that one. Hmmm need to put my ear to the ground. Thanks for the heads up on a new limb on the tree.

My only true "grail" is a 1955 poor man's DD. It's in really good condition. I think it's worth $200... and I found 2 in the same coin roll! ;)

(Third time is the charm, I hope?)

My "grail" coins: US - 1964-D Peace Dollar or 1969-S Cent DDO.

World or foreign - 1839 "Una and the Lion" Five Pounds from Great Britain.

Ancient - Eid-Mar Denarius or Syracusan Tetradrachm.

My favorite coin in my collection changes from time to time, but for now it's my 1946 Walking Liberty Half Dollar with a DDR, because it's one of my best cherrypicks to date and it's in near Gem condition - and I only paid "regular" money for it!

I know next to nothing when it comes to foreign coins, but those look beautiful. I do collect Peace Dollars, but unfortunately haven't found a '64 yet ;). Do you think any made it?If you really want one, you can always get one of Daniel Carr's Fantasy overstrikes, until one of the 'real'  64's show up if they exist at all?!!?  Those are really cool. Interesting note: In 1970, when they were testing the Eisenhower dollars, they made test pieces using the Ike composition, with the Peace Dollar design. I have not found many references to this. Not even pictures! Thoughts? Where did you find this reference I would like to read it for myself, its not one that I have heard about ever. The 1964 reference is saw in relation to the JFK Executive Order and other places. In fact I have heard of many references to the existence of the '64's escaping into unknown collecions.

After a few days of contemplation I guess my "Holy Grail" would be a $1 FRN CA Block Note printed on Gilbert Paper or the 1963 $1 FRN BB Block with a 443 back plate number.

My holy grail right now would be a Spanish Doubloon to go with the Piece of Eight I have. :)

I just looked that one up and learned something. Very interesting!

Very cool. Do you consider a true doubloon to be 2,4, or 8 escudos?

I personally favor the 1943 zinc-coated steel cent.
