Those who follow me may remember back about six months ago that I bought a Littleton coin album for the Indian Head (Buffalo) Nickel intent on a high end set. I already have an old blue filled with circulated from when I was much younger, in the mid-seventies. So this one has the goal of a full, four digit date and half horn minimum in mind. Not easy now that I'm down to thirteen remaining with a 1927 just scored on EBAY for $13. As you have most likely thought, the very tough and expensive coins are in the remaining count. These, particularly the 1913s type one and the 1913 d/s type twos will set me back a minimum of $325.00 each, or about $1500 to complete. When they surface. But in the end I'll have a very nice, original and non-acid treated series. So what are you working on?

Sounds cool! I am also working on a buffalo nickel collection, but, because I am a YN, I am using some acid treated ones to keep the cost down, I already have a 1913-D type two, but of course it is acid treated. I am also pretty far along with my Lincoln Cent collection (without proofs), I am only missing around 30, including of course the key dates. Good luck with your collection!

I thought those acid nickels stopped a while ago. I don't understand there is no value. The grading company's say altered it details treated.. Besides it's not safe. I have not heard about them for over a year. Well to each there own. Even if you find a key date. It's not key!

I want to do a acid date set. Or all acid date or if I dont find acid date, all poor condition. I know there almost worthless, but a set would be interesting and fun to complete. At least the rare dates in poor grades would have value.

You're not alone on the low grade set, Golfer. Both NGC and PCGS have registry sets for the PO-1 grades and more often than not these sell for more than a middle grade example. To each there own. Yet I respect that.

I have also been working on my Buffalo Nickel set lately...I believe I only have 18 more to go on mine. I just recently purchased a PCGS VF30 1937 D 3 legged nickel....As usual I'm trying to get the key dates/Semi keys certified. Its a challenge putting together a set with four readable digits....good luck!!

That 3 legger is a great pick up. Don't forget the 1936-D 3 1/2 leg. Sorry, that is mean. Buffalo's a great coins.

Could you make a collection under your account with photos of your set? I would really enjoy seeing them! I, as usual, am working on my small cent collection. I have every date lincoln cent complete except the key dates, and S minted dates from 1909 to 1915. For my Indian Head cents, I have almost all the dates from 1880 to 1909, except the two S mint ones. I have the 1860, 63, and 64 copper-nickel indian head cents, 1859, 1865, 1871, and 1879 of the pre-1880 cents. And, finally, for the Flying Eagle cents I've got a good 1857 and a very fine 1858 small letters. I recently added slots for proofs, so I have around 15 proof lincoln cents in there so far

I never really thought of posting my collection online. After forty-five years of steady chugging along it's quite sizable. But I'll see about the nickels and go from there. As for the cent, I'm complete back to 1938.
