I was wondering whether the Coronavirus has affected operations at NGC and PCGS. On the NGC website, there is a notice concerning a reduction in customer service hours. As for PCGS, nothing is mentioned. Since both operate with numerous graders in the same room, looking over thousands of submissions daily, I was a little concerned if there would be any disruption. Apparently everything seems to be OK.13 days ago
The Coronavirus & NGC and PCGS
Well worn Copper
It is my understanding they are monitoring and doing temperature checks before employees enter the building.
Plus they just put up this offer, so business must be going on as planned (for now): In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19), NGC is offering all the benefits of on-site grading without the travel. Send your coins to NGC for grading during this WalkThrough Event and receive special pricing and a one-week turnaround. All coins submitted for this event will be graded by a team of graders dedicated solely to this event.
Are these professional graders. I will be honest. I'm worried I have some MS 64 maybe 65,and maybe a 66 toward proof like. It's taken me time to seek these out and they come with the auction tickets I can't afford a grader who only does American silver eagles. These are very old and expensive. I will wait. I can't chance it would you. I don't care about special prices. Thank you though for your concern I hope you understand. Thanks Mike
This is a question I've pondered for almost two weeks. Although not concerning either specifically, rather businesses in general. Mine has, and still is, operational. From a business point of view I understand the importance as long as safe protocols are adhered to. At the same time I see the employee side as well. The conclusion I've drawn, factoring out essential industry such as medical, law enforcement, ect, would be that either way all businesses will eventually shut down until this passes. If done now it would almost certainly be a much shorter closure period with infected numbers relatively low for a large population then to wait and be shut down much longer. In other words, lower infected numbers translates to a quicker recovery. Remember, if one is infected the symptoms are not known immediately and thereby the newly infected magnifies exponentially. Immediate separation is the only logical outcome.

Longstrider - I missed the most important part of the email I received when relaying the info (sorry!), it is for dealers only. "NGC In-house WalkThrough Event Open to All NGC Dealers." However, I do not know they are proceeding with business as usual for all submissions and services right now.
