Let's put ideas and feedback here

So far the site is looking great.

Will there be an area other then the FAQ section that people will be able to find out 'How to' use the basic features of the site like starting Blogs and the like?

Forgive me if I have over looked it if it's already here.  I'm just getting my first cup.  ;)

Another thought.  When looking at the bottom of the page and seeing the 'Load More' button there,  can we have some sort of display as to 'How many' more pages there are that can be viewed?

I tried hitting the button on both the forums and blog pages and all it did was wink at me.  :)  Leaving me wondering if there were in fact more pages or weather something was wrong on my end or if I or the server was lagging.

Being a computer dummy, I cannot find the blog post click-on to post and share a numismatic story as requested in my first mission. Guess this president's first mission may be his last. I'll hit the self destruct mode, but cannot find this either. Site looks good, operates fast from point to point

We should put a function to edit your posts on these forums just in case you realize that you made a typo or something like that.

So is SLUG something that we should change the first time we log in? If so what should it be changed to.

A little better description of what it is for and how we should use it may be needed. Also are there any restrictions on what we can change it to?

DAR: At the ANA we are currently in the process of writing several "How to" posts that will be posted on several places on this site with instructions for functions like posting, forums, messaging, changing settings and many more things. If there is anything you think needs a how to post please let me know and we'll add it to the list.

THE ANA PREZ: To create a blog post go to your MY ANA page and to the right of the box with your avatar in it there should be a box that has a purple button that says "New post +." Click on that and it will take you to the page where you can write your post.

COLORADOCOINGUY: A SLUG is the identifier in a web address to your profile page. I recommend you make it the same as your username. However, I wouldn't recommend changing it more than once if you have to because that will alter web addresses, which may break some links if they have been posted somewhere in cyberspace.

The "Ask a Question" button is an invitation to the general public. If they're not a member, they can create an account for free that allows them to post to these forums, search for ANA-member dealers, and a few other activities, but they don't get any membership benefits (like The Numismatist).

My comment (elsewhere before this thread was created) was probably better phrased to say that when you click on that link now, it doesn't take a non-member to a place that invites their interaction. I understand that we want them to create a guest account with their information so we can market to them. But, the current path from the home page does not really invite them to do that. It could go to a page that invites members to login or ask guests to register as a guest to get answers to their questions about the hobby. Registering is the first step to them committing to the association, but we need additional steps to actually encourage them to join.

It is about drawing them in and helping them realize the benefits of being a member (like The Numismatist). That means we need to make them feel welcome and not leave them confused or frustrated.

On today's Tech Committee Conference Call, we talked about this with the web developer. The pages with the "Donate" and "Join the ANA" forms are going to be getting some additional content encouraging user to take action. Look for this content over the next couple weeks and let us know what you think.

When publishing a blog, I typically like to write it on a word document and then paste it into the blog content. However, when I tried to paste it and save it there was no content. This morning I thought to try pasting it as plain text rather than keeping the Word document formatting and it worked. If your software would take the copied documents and translate it to plain text when I copy it that would be a nice feature. Otherwise a help aide to copy only as plain text would work too.

Let me just say, I LOVE the look and layout of this site and I am excited for the launch in July. I like to post a "Coin of the Month" blog featuring coins from my collection on NGC's Collector's Society and I look forward to also posting here.

Hopefully we will be able to add coin clubs that we belong to onto our profile page under ANA Clubs. For example I would like to add that I am a member of the EAC club and the Denver Coin club. Currently my profile page shows that I am a member of CWNA and Northside Coin club, both correct by the way.
