Hello all, Is there anyone out there who collects US/Philippines coins, with a focus on die varieties? I'm getting really frustrated trying to find a copy (ANY copy!) of Lyman Allen's "US/Philippines Coins" to help in variety attribution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.1 year ago
Any Us/Philippines variety collectors out there?
LOL, just found a copy in the library. Send my request for an account. But feel free to respond if you want to continue the conversation.1 year ago
Well worn Copper
I casually collect some pre-1947 Philippine issues, and have quite a few on the "Heroes of the Revolution" (circa 1966-67) pattens in copper, but nothing else. I have followed commemoratives in the Krause world coin catalogs, which is where i get most of my information. Unfortunately, I've found a good deal of Philippine coinage desperately needs updating in a proper guidebook.1 year ago
Agreed. Allen's book is the go to for what I collect, but is near impossible to find, even in outdated editions, which is why I'm thankful for the ANA library.Popped over to your post on the HOTF patterns...that Imelda Marcos proof is gorgeous.1 year ago
After several minutes on Google these are the results. Prior to Mr. Allen's passing in 2010 he wrote six editions of "U.S./Philippine Coins" between 1994 and 2008, which are listed on Amazon. The other book I found was "A Catalog of Philippine Coins.", also on Amazon. Not sure if this hardcover is similar.
Hi i have four left. 1945 Allen DD reverse. Two are being shipped to Heratage. The do very well. Made in Denver. I had a whole roll DD MS 67 66. Thats as far as i went. The DD is worse than the 55 cent. I have been watching the history channel in serch of wwIi gold burried in the Philipines. Very interesting. Coins are nice.
