ANA’s Coins in the Classroom returns to Clearwater Beach, Florida
December 28, 2005 to January 1, 2006

(Colorado Springs, Colorado) The American Numismatic Association is offering its very successful continuing education course for teachers over the winter break, December 28, 2005 to January 1, 2006, in Clearwater Beach, Florida. Enthusiastic, innovative educators are encouraged to apply for “Coins in the Classroom,” and consideration for a full Professional Numismatist Guild (PNG) and ANA-funded scholarship.

This hands-on course is designed specifically to help teachers use coins in their classrooms to augment their curricula in social studies, mathematics or other related disciplines. Participants will learn how the study of coins provides a link to history, economics, mathematics and technology. By examining why coins are made and how they are used, they gain insights into how societies exist and function.

The course consists of presentations, interactive discussions and workshops directed toward understanding how coins from ancient civilizations, Europe, Asia or the United States can be used to help young minds learn and grow.Teachers who are accepted into the program receive tuition, daily lodging and breakfast, materials and a transportation reimbursement. Graduate education credits are available.

The American Numismatic Association is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to educating and encouraging people to study and collect money and related items.
