Monday, November 5—As the year comes to an end, so does the Money Museum's exhibit "Trenches to Treaties: World War I in Remembrance." Displayed at the museum are coins and paper money from combatant nations, art medals and military decorations, as well as weapons and uniforms to illustrate the events and effects of World War I politically, economically and socially.

Monday, October 29—Brianna Victor was named the American Numismatic Association (ANA) Seminar Manager in September after Amber Bradish departed to pursue a post-graduate degree.

American Numismatic Association Board of Governors Approves $5.79 Million Budget for FY 2018-19

Tuesday, October 23—At an Oct. 16 teleconference meeting, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) Board of Governors unanimously passed a $5.79 million budget for Fiscal Year 2018-19.

Money Museum Showcases 1943 Cent Valued at $1 Million
Other Multi-Million Dollar Rarities on Display

Tuesday, October 2—The Edward C. Rochette Money Museum in Colorado Springs is displaying a bronze cent valued at over $1 million. On loan to the museum, this 1943 Lincoln cent is one of the finest known examples. Bronze cents dated 1943 have been famous since one was first discovered in 1944. While they look like regular-issue cents of any other year, they are incredibly rare.

Over 1,700 Kids Participating in ANA's Coins for A's Program
Friday, September 28—For five years the American Numismatic Association has offered a program to young, budding numismatists called Coins for A's. The program encourages students from kindergarten to high school to achieve 3 A's during their marking period in return for a free coin and a one-year digital membership to the American Numismatic Association (ANA). 

Burnett Anderson Memorial Award and ANA Member Booster Awards Presented at World's Fair of Money®
Thursday, September 27—The achievements of numismatists do not go unnoticed. Each year, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) presents an award to a researcher, author or journalist in recognition of his or her body of work and career contributions to numismatics. Numismatists working to expand interest in coin collecting by recruiting new ANA members also are recognized for their efforts.

Exhibitors Honored at Philadelphia World's Fair of Money®
Tuesday, September 4—The American Numismatic Association (ANA) presented 55 competitive exhibit awards at the 2018 World's Fair of Money in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Winners were announced at the exhibit awards presentation and reception on Aug. 17, and at the awards banquet that evening.

American Numismatic Association Donates $55,000 to Fight Counterfeiting 
Wednesday, August 29—The American Numismatic Association (ANA) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts to fight coin and bullion counterfeiting with a $55,000 contribution to the Anti-Counterfeiting Educational Foundation (ACEF), the non-profit organization that receives contributions to fund the work of the Industry Council for Tangible Assets' Anti-Counterfeiting Task Force (ACTF). The donation was made during the August 18 ANA board of governors meeting at the Philadelphia World's Fair of Money®.

Nearly 10,000 Attend Philadelphia World's Fair of Money® 
Tuesday, August 28—Philadelphia's reputation as the "City of Brotherly Love" was unmistakable at the 2018 World's Fair of Money®. The American Numismatic Association-sponsored event welcomed 9,939 people at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Aug. 14-18, and by all accounts the show was one of the most successful in recent memory.

Numismatic Influencers Receive Awards During World's Fair of Money® 
Tuesday, August 21—Leaders in numismatics are essential for helping others to grow within the coin collecting hobby. ANA Presents Literary Awards to Exceptional Writers
Monday, August 6—The American Numismatic Association's 2018 literary awards – recognizing articles published in the 2017 volume of its official magazine, The Numismatist  – will be presented on August 16 at the ANA World's Fair of Money in Philadelphia. The Numismatist  was launched by ANA founder and first editor Dr. George F. Heath in 1888, and this year marks its 131st volume.

ANA Members to Receive Recognition at Philadelphia World's Fair of Money
Thursday, August 2—Numismatics is the study and collection of coins, paper money, tokens and medals, but at the American Numismatic Association (ANA) it is the people who truly define the hobby. ANA Educating Young Students with Educational Kits
Adopt-A-School Program Introduced
Thursday, July 26–Numismatics is not just a hobby for adults. The future of the hobby is dependent on younger audiences becoming interested in collecting. Through programs like Coins for A's and  the new Adopt-A-School program, the American Numismatic Association is reaching school-age kids to promote curiosity and interest in numismatics.

Donation to Money Museum Sculpted by Colorado College Graduate Glenna Goodacre
Thursday, July 12 – In late 2017, the Money Museum in Colorado Springs received a donation of items related to the production of the Sacagawea dollar, which was designed by Colorado College graduate Glenna Goodacre in 1999.

Included in the donation is one of three plaster-casts of the original design, a plaster of the final design, a test piece in bronze to study the design with a polished finish and examples of the first coins struck by the U.S. Mint.

ANA Awards College Scholarships to Committed Numismatists
Thursday, July 12 — The American Numismatic Association (ANA) has awarded 2018 college scholarships to Roxanne Pittman from Pledger, TX, and Shelby Plooster from Evans, GA.

Each winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship to use toward tuition at an institution of their choice.

New and Improved ANA Dealer Directory Launches July 1
Sunday, July 1 — On July 1, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) released a modified and improved Dealer Directory. With this search engine tool, collectors can explore and discover dealers across the street or across the country. Over 1,500 dealers can be searched worldwide by name, specialty, location or keyword.

World's Fair of Money Commemorative Medal Redesign Represents Brotherly Love
Friday, June 8, 2018 — A revised commemorative medal design for the Philadelphia World's Fair of Money was unveiled today by the American Numismatic Association. Designed by Jamie Franki and sculpted by noted medallic artist Heidi Wastweet, the reverse of the commemorative medal required a redesign after ownership questions surfaced around the famous Philadelphia LOVE graphic, which was originally depicted on the medal.

Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Donates $50,000 to Support ANA's Summer Seminar Program
Wednesday, May 30, 2018 — The Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society has donated $50,000 to support the American Numismatic Association's  Summer Seminar. The donation includes a "matching" funds campaign to supplement the proceeds of the Young Numismatist Benefit Auctions.

ANA School of Numismatics Offers Seminars in Philadelphia
Wednesday, April 11, 2018The American Numismatic Association’s (ANA) School of Numismatics is offering several educational courses held in conjunction with the Philadelphia World’s Fair of Money. “An Introduction to Collecting Ancient Greek & Roman Coins,” “Coin Grading, Problem Coins and Conservation” and “Fundamentals of Digital Photography” will be offered prior and during the show. Submissions Accepted for ANA’s Club Publications Contest
Tuesday, April 10, 2018The American Numismatic Association (ANA) is currently accepting submissions for the 2018 Outstanding Club Publications competition. The contest is open to member clubs that are current with their ANA dues and do not have an elected or salaried ANA officer as editor or assistant editor. Club publications must have been issued on a regular basis. Completed submissions must be received by May 15.

Wednesday, March 21, 2018Hobbyists interested in attending the American Numismatic Association's (ANA) 50th annual Summer Seminar in Colorado Springs, Colo. can now register for the event online. The two one- week sessions will be held June 16-28. Colorado Springs Services Scheduled for Edward C. Rochette
Tuesday, February 13, 2018 Services for former American Numismatic Association President and Executive Director Edward C. Rochette are scheduled for 1 pm on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Shove Chapel on the grounds of Colorado College, 1010 N. Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Rochette, 90, died on Jan. 18 in Colorado Springs, where he lived most of his life. He was born on Feb. 17, 1927, in Worcester, Massachusetts.

ANA College Scholarships Available to Young Collectors
Thursday, February 8, 2018—Applications for college scholarships provided by the American Numismatic Association (ANA) are being accepted through March 15. The scholarship fund was established in 2014 to provide a graduating high school senior who is also a member of the ANA with $1,000 to use at the university, community college, or trade school of the student's choice. Scholarship winners will be chosen based on numismatic merit and financial need.

Ed Rochette, Former President and Executive Director, Dies
Thursday, January 25, 2018—Former ANA President and Executive Director Edward C. Rochette, 90, died on January 18 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he lived most of his life. He was born on February 17, 1927, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Edward Rochette, a physician, and Lilia A. (Viau) Rochette, both of whom died before Ed Jr. reached adulthood.

Friday, August 18, 2017—The American Numismatic Association’s (ANA) 2017 World’s Fair of Money – the most important numismatic event of the year – welcomed 8,638 people at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Aug. 1-5.

The family-friendly event featured displays by government and private mints from around the world; expansive educational programs led by notable speakers sharing their numismatic expertise; exhibits of rare treasures from private collectors and from the American Numismatic Association’s Money Museum -- including Colorado Gold Rush era rarities; hundreds of dealers buying and selling coins, currency and related items in all price ranges; and major auctions by Heritage Auctions and Stack’s Bowers Galleries.

American Numismatic Association Awards College Scholarships
Friday, July 21, 2017—The American Numismatic Association (ANA) has awarded 2017 college scholarships to Collin J. Dempsey, a homeschool senior in Wilder, Tenn., and William E. Cather, a senior at Courtland High School in Fredericksburg, Va.

Each winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship to use toward tuition at an institution of their choice.

“The American Numismatic Association is pleased to be able to offer two college scholarships to deserving numismatists,” said Rod Gillis, the ANA's education director. “This is an opportunity for the Association to expand on its core mission of education through higher learning.”

Gary Adkins to Become ANA’s 60th President at World’s Fair of Money
Wednesday, July 5, 2017—Voting members of the American Numismatic Association (ANA) have chosen three new candidates and six incumbents to the ANA Board of Governors for the 2017-19 election term.

New members Thomas J. Uram, John W. Highfill and Brian Hendelson, will join Col. Steve Ellsworth, Ralph Ross, Greg Lyon, and Paul Montgomery on the Board of Governors along with President-elect Gary Adkins and Vice President-elect Don Kagin. Kagin ran unopposed for Vice President. In accordance with ANA bylaws, ballots for uncontested offices are not tabulated; only the first vote is counted in that race.

World’s Fair of Money and National Money Show Auctioneers Announced
Thursday, June 29, 2017—The American Numismatic Association has selected its Official Auctioneers for the 2018-2019 World's Fair of Money and the 2018-2021 National Money Show. Three prominent numismatic auction companies – Heritage Auctions, Stack's Bowers Galleries and Kagin’s Auctions – were selected as Official Auctioneers.

ANA Announces E-Sylum Collaboration

Wednesday, June 21, 2017—In an effort to provide its members with an additional source of hobby-related news, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) is pleased to announce its collaboration with Numismatic Bibliomania Society (NBS), producer of The E-Sylum weekly online newsletter. Beginning June 21, ANA members will receive the weekly eNewsletter. The bulletin offers reports of coins, medals, tokens, and numismatic literature.

Military Decorations Displayed at Money Museum
Friday, May 26, 2017History buffs and military aficionados alike are sure to appreciate the new exhibit at the Money Museum, “Trenches to Treaties: World War I in Remembrance,” commemorating the 100th anniversary of “The Great War.” Operated by the American Numismatic Association (ANA), the Money Museum exhibit honors WWI soldiers through a spectacular display of medals and military decorations such as the U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor, the French Croix de Guerre (Cross of War) and the Victoria Cross (the highest award of the United Kingdom).

ANA Announces Collaboration with CDN
Friday, May 19, 2017The American Numismatic Association (ANA) is excited to announce a collaboration between its flagship publication, The Numismatist, and The Coin Dealer Newsletter (CDN), providing ANA members a reliable retail pricing tool for collectable U.S. and Early American coinage. Beginning in June, ANA members can access the “Collector’s Price Guide” (CPG) in The Numismatist. Each monthly 8- to 10-page supplement offers up-to-date values for a variety of U.S. coin types and denominations on a regular rotation, with early coppers, cents and nickels in June, silver in July, and gold in August.

Money Museum Hosts Free Event to Celebrate National Coin Week
Tuesday, April 11, 2017The American Numismatic Association (ANA) and its Money Museum will celebrate National Coin Week, April 16-22, with an array of activities, including an open house with free admission and special events on Saturday, April 22 from 10:30 am to 5 p.m.

This year marks the centennial of the United States’ involvement in "The War to End All Wars," World War I. To honor the connection between numismatics and the military throughout history, the theme for this year's event is “Conflict and Courage: Money and the Military.” The 94th annual event focuses on everything from ancient coins celebrating battles, to siege money of the Renaissance, to scrip, MPCs and commemorative coins from around the world.

For over a decade, John has been a popular instructor on Early American numismatics at the ANA’s annual Summer Seminar. A regular columnist in the Association’s journal, The Numismatist, and the national hobby publication, Coin World, he has been honored for his research and writing by the ANA and the Numismatic Literary Guild (NLG). John’s Coin World column is now in its ninth year.

The American Numismatic Association's World's Fair of Money  in Anaheim is rapidly approaching and promises to be the biggest, most fun coin show of the summer. The convention takes place Aug. 9-13 in Hall D of the Anaheim Convention Center at 800 West Katella Ave., adjacent to Disneyland.
