Collecting Tips | Haney

Like many of you I have seen the signs indicating there is a national coin shortage. That said I have a few items of encouragement for those of us who still collect coins by finding them.

New hockeypuck

| Larry Smith

The US Mint released it's San Antonio Missions 5 oz. Silver Coin (hockey puck). If you do the math with silver at around 17.50 (1), the silver value of this coin is about $90. I can't believe that beople spend the $154 that the mint is asking for it. That is almost double it's value. these coins have basically no numismatic value and are just bullion coins, given that I have never even seen one in person. I am tired of these coins. I'm glad that womens' history qharters are coming next, but not if they make the hockeypucks for them too.P.S. Sorry I haven't been writing blog posts wor a week-I was on vacationSource:CoinWeek(1) Comes from PCGS Daily Coin Market Report on 9/26

2018 National Park quarters

Coins-United States | Conan Barbarian

this past coin club meeting i managed to get my hands on some of the paper copies of the Numismatist and Coin World which are much better paper than digital but for now i can't get printed copies (in the future i plan to be a life member, which will be when i get a job, still in high school) but any way in the 2016 August Numismatist magazine they had a short article and pictures of the upcoming designs for the 2018 national park coins (page 25). the coins look really cool and i would say my favorite one is the Georgia, Cumberland Island national park that displays a turtle. the coin is absolutely gorgeous and really hope that they keep that design and don't switch it with another one.

Anyone tired of the US Quarter programs

Coins | user_5954

Every year since 1999 we have had five releases of the Washington quarter, either a state or national park one. Now it is 2016 and I have to admit I am burned out on the quarter programs. I pray to God that after 2021 we are finished. At least we are done with the US President dollar program this year.
