
US Numismatics Discovery Models - Part 1
The following three models explains the different possible types of US numismatic discoveries. The legend for the models:Black Circle - Current Documented Knowledge DomainBlue Triangle - Addition of new knowledge to the Current Documented Knowledge DomainA discovery is made when new knowledge (Blue Triangle) is added to the Current Documented Knowledge Domain (Black Circle). As a result, the Documented Knowledge domain increased with the new discovery. An example of a knowledge domain is the entire documented Lincoln Cent knowledge database (books, catalogs, etc...). The following examples shows the different ways a knowledge domain is expanded.Model A - Previously Undocumented Physical Error Example - The initial discovery of the 1995 DDO Lincoln Cent error.
