1964 French West Indies 10 Francs Banknote
Along the 1950's and 1960's the French West Indies, better known as the French Antilles in the Caribbean, were a high traffic spot for tourism coming in from the entire globe. This is much going still today, however, the islands have become separate sovereign states each.
This still attractive and colorful banknote was issued in 1964, in France and supported or backed-up by the French Franc. The French Antilles financial overseer was the "Institut pour Départements D'Autre Mer" or the Institute for Overseas Departments, of the French Ministry for Financial Affairs.
This French Overseas Department note circulated in the islands of Martinique, Guadeloupe and the French Guyana.
With 58 years of circulation and preservación the note I present here is considered rare and very sought by all collectors.
In my own words.
