My Numismatic Journey
I inherited my brother-in-law's coin collection. What a difference between his and mine. His is in almost pristine condition. Many are slabbed. Some are not. Mine looks pathetic compared to his. Maybe I can learn from him.

Be proud of your collection regardless of what it looks like. We all collect within our means and do the best we can. Nobody tries to keep up with other collectors. Maybe his collection can be an inspiration to you.

No collection is better than another. Even those with deep pockets collect what they want, for their purpose. So also is your own. Personally, I own a few coins which were given to me having a value far above that of even the rarest of coins. I would not trade them for an 1804 dollar or the 1933 Saint-Gaudens.

There are no pathetic coin collections. The pristine ones are beautiful to the eye but have not done their duty in commerce. The circulated ones bear the scars and wear of passing from hand to hand while fulfilling their intended purpose. Both have their place, both are outstanding. I Love Your Pathetic Collection!!!!!

Welcome to our community ! I agree with Bama. The first time I had someone look at my collection, they called it "mostly junk money" ! LOL You will find friends here, and we are interested in what you collect and why you collect it. Again, welcome and if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. Here, it's just like in school, "the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked"! :-))

Always amazed at the different areas of coins people collect and how they got into those areas. Every series has its supporters. Some people view a lot of their collection as an investment. Some don't want slabbed at all. Important thing is to enjoy collecting no matter what you collect. Some of the simplest coins are our favorites!
