Christa McAuliffe 2021 Silver Dollar Commenerative Coin
Today I will talk about the Christa McAuliffe 2021 Silver Dollar Commerative Coin. It commenerates Christa McAuliffe a teacher and astronaut. You may have heard of the very tragic story of her life.
Christa MsAuliffe was born September 2, 1948 in Boston, MA. She recived a masters degree in education, supervision and administration. She taught social studies at Concord High School. In 1985 she was accepted for the Nasa Teachr in Space Project. She was going to be the first teacher in space. On January 28, 1986 the shuttle Challenger exploded before it got to space resulting in her death and others onboard. AfAfter her death, some schools were named in her honor, and she was awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor in 2004. (even though she wasn't there to accept it since she was dead.) Her death was devestating.
This commenerative coin was created in her honnor. On the obverse it features Christa McAliffe. On the reverse it shows her pointing to the stars with children by her side. Also it features the FIRST® LEGO® League Logo because some of the profits go to the FIRST® LEGO® League or FLL. A few weeks ago I went to a FLL conpetition with a team I am on called The Flying Nuggets (named after the coachs dog.) We didn't win the competition but had fun! Maybe I will get this coin sometime. Anyway you can currently buy the coin on https://catalog.usmint.gov/christa-mcauliffe-2021-proof-silver-dollar-21CH.html for $79.00 or the uncirculated dollar for $74.00. This is a great coin and in memory of a great person, Christa McAliffe.
Thanks for reading my blog and have a great rest of your day!

Nice commemorative silver coin. I agree with I.R. Bama though... What about the other crew members. How is it decided who's worthy of a special coin??? ; )

Yeah they should get a commemorative. I feel like everyone who died in space should get one nice commemorative coin.

This is a beautiful coin and her life is worth celebrating, but I can't help but feel the sadness of her crew members who were all worth commemorating, but what about Apollo I? They were our first astronauts that we lost. Nothing but crickets about them. But this remains a worthy coin

Yeah. It is sad that we don’t really commemorate others who were lost.
