Merry Christmas

Exonumia | Stumpy

2020 started out bleak from a Numismatics standpoint. I had been collecting coins since the 1960s, but didn't have a clue.

Coins-United States | Stumpy

These coins are special to me since they were my Christmas gift in 1984 from my folks. In this case my Mother wrote the card so it said more than just "Enjoy". Lol

Foo-Foo Coin, Hey it was "PURDY"!!!

Coins-World | Stumpy

Today is my Spousal Unit’s birthday, and Methuselah finally has competition! Lol, my awesome wife has never been a jewelry gal, nor is she a “keep up the Jones” kind of gal. Neither of us are big Gold folks, let me tell you, shopping for her can be daunting to say the least. Enter one legged man stage right, he likes things that are different, pocket book won’t support “One of a Kind” things, but unusual or different is just right! I was perusing the Canadian Mint Site out of boredom more than anything else and it jumped off the computer screen at me….2020 December Birthstone, mintage 5000, 99.9% Silver, Reverse Proof finish, weight; 7.96 g, diameter; 27mm, edge; serrated, Face Value; 5 Dollars, Serialized Certificate, with a Free Floating Frame, (extra), well worth it.

Taxidermist finally came through

Coins-United States | Stumpy

We received the Proof American Silver Eagle 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II, & Proof Silver Medal back from NGC yesterday. As usual, His Heinousness immediately inspected the coins, the Proof ASE was returned PF69 Ultra Cameo, while the Silver Medal was returned PF70 Ultra Cameo. We would have liked to have had a 70 on both, however, we have no complaints. I also attached photos of some of the other ASEs that we have that are graded. You will see the (in my opinion) top three TPGs represented in these photos. We have obtained a bunch of them since my Spousal Unit decided that she likes her "Pretty Ladies". We have a bunch of proof coins on their way to NGC as I type this, a bunch of others awaiting future submissions are in the safe. My wife and I love this coin, we have Bullion/Uncirculated, & Proof. Some of the photos shown below were purchased one morning while I slept, my wife found an on-line auction, in it she purchased 12 or 14 graded coins, from a 1938 Lincoln Red Cent, 1961 Proof Quarters, etc, you get the idea. In one morning she had become a coin monster, and I loved her even before that! Since then, we look, talk & spend, boy is it fun! Some of you asked to see the coins when they came in, I just figured that I would show you a sampling of our growing ASE collection. Thanks for reading this, we appreciate the support and mentorship that we have received from so many of you.

United States Liberty Coins, Uncirculated Two Coin Set 1986

Coins-United States | Stumpy

As I have stated before, I am currently trying to list, photograph & mention any history that I may have about coins in my collection before I shuffle off this mortal coil. I want my family to know the history behind these old family coins.
