NGC Chairman Mark Salzberg announced during the WFM that NGC is going to develop a Coin registry for the ANA. This registry will accept both PCGS and NGC slabs and will provide awards to the best sets, provided the set owned is an ANA member. This is supposed to be in place by the end of the year. Some Interesting Developments

"Couldn't hurt" is my first thought, but it would probably require members to list every NGC or PCGS slab individually, unless the ANA does it for them. In the end it may show just how many slabs ANA members possess at any given time compared to dealers or (non-ANA) spectators. It could prove to be a huge undertaking.5 months ago
Since NGC is developing this for ANA, betcha you will be able to import anything you have in their registry. The PCGS boss was on the panel, maybe a chance to negotiate their own import rights. One reason is to increase ANA membership.5 months ago

I viewed the video later on youtube.com and Mark Saltzberg explained very well. Sounds interesting and may be of benefit.
I can see a benefit especially if it encourages new members, I just think there is an element of mission creep here and I wonder if NGC is really doing all this work out of kindness or if they have some hidden agenda.
If it's just based on sets i have no problem. I hope they will have competitive sets and non competitive sets. I think the prizes should plaques or ribbons not cash. Remember were looking for donations to keep going. I can't see a charitable organization giving cash awards when we need the funds. If that would be the set up i say it would work and be good for the ANA. Bring money in I'm sure Miss Kiick just gave a great video on what we need. That was important. Start handing out cash is not good for our donationss!. Just my opinion I hope they work it out if they give cash then the age limit should be the same as the NGC. By the way we have to post our own sets at NGC and it's not easy. Takes time to learn. But Once You have it. And why do you want the ANA to list the sets.? Learn like we did.
It's not hard to post coins but there is a learning curve. This is the way it used to be in the "old Days". Both NGC and PCGS sets were allowed. I agree with Pat, no cash just ribbons and plaques. Thanks Mokie..🐍5 months ago
That sounds great! I really hope it comes out soon, and that they will also allow ANACS and IGC certified coins. Most of mine are ANACS certified.5 months ago
Mr. Salzberg only mentioned NGC and PCGS when talking about the new ANA registry. So ANACS and ICG may be out in the cold. Incidentally, I also really like ANACS slabs.
I too am an ANACS fan. If you do VAM's, errors are any type varieties they are the guys ..5 months ago
