Coin World’s Beth Deisher Receives Coveted Burnett Anderson Memorial Award

Coin World editor Beth Deisher received the Burnett Anderson Memorial Award for journalistic excellence at the ANA World’s Fair of Money Awards Banquet on Aug. 19.

First conferred posthumously in 1999 to its namesake – a newsman’s journalist – the award is sponsored by Krause Publications. The recipient is selected in a cooperative process by the American Numismatic Association (ANA), American Numismatic Society (ANS) and Numismatic Literary Guild (NLG).

Deisher of Bellefontaine, Ohio, joined the staff of the Amos Press publication, Coin World, as news editor in 1981, and became executive editor in 1984. During her tenure, she pioneered major expansions to Coin World’s Trends, which now appear in Coin Values, a monthly publication she launched for Amos Press in 2003. Her success led her to introduce Paper Money Values in 2005.

Deisher has received more than 100 state and national awards for writing, editing and publication design, including the Clemy Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Numismatic Literary Guild.

In bestowing upon Beth Deisher the Burnett Anderson Memorial Award for Excellence in Numismatic Writing, the American Numismatic Association, American Numismatic Society and Numismatic Literary Guild express the sincere appreciation of their members.
