When the SACAGAWEA golden dollar was introduces in 2000, it afforded collectors several rare oppurtunities. The design was gorgeous and the eagle ground breaking. Collectors quickly discovered varieites that caused a coin hunt that still continues, to include the Cherio dollar and the Goodacre dollars. But the mint never released what the public was really starving for ... which was a REAL mitage of real gold golden dollars....Or so you may have thought. But the Mint actually did make real gold golden dollars, and they were on display at the ANA meeting at Milwaukee in 2007. Eileen Collins, of NASA. She was the first women astronaut to command a space shuttle and she carried with her 12 - 22 carot gold Sacagawea dollars that launched with Callenger. 39 were minted and 27 were melted down straight away. The 12 best were selected to go on the voyage and ended up in the end at Fort Knox for posperity. They are W mint marked, and have full tail feahers.https://www.coinnews.net/2007/07/18/22-karat-golden-sacagawea-space-dollars-landing-in-milwaukee/https://www.usmint.gov/coins/coin-medal-programs/circulating-coins/sacagawea-golden-dollar

I wrote the following on 2/3/21 in response to a collector who lives a fair distance from his nearest coin shop. In his blog, he talks about social media and its effect on the coin market. The author of the blog wrote it in response to an article by Jeff Garrett. The link to Jeff's article and the blog are posted below. In my edited answers to him below, I will make references to some of you. Please know that I am not talking directly to you. But I am referring to my perceived knowledge of you in this response to him. I am also posting a proof version of a French coin commemorating medical research that I wrote about in a previous blog. All I can say about that is stunning!
Just ran into this at my grocery store. Wondering if anyone else has hear about it. I also tried to go coin roll hunting and the tellers at the bank said "can you please give us your coins for cash". I said sure so I went back today gave them a bunch of rolled coins and they were happy. So then I asked if they had any quarters and they had zero. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hi Everyone! I just noticed that a good member here is able to earn badges now. Is this something the ANA has started up again or am I seeing things? I'd love to be able to try and earn badges again, that used to be really fun! Let me know if anyone has any information. Thanks and have a great "Numi" Day!
Building a collection of coins is a very personal matter. But you don’t have to go it alone. Doing so could lead to costly mistakes. Wouldn’t you rather learn from others and have more fun at the same time?
I didn't know whether to put this in the tokens category or the medals category, so I chose tokens. Thought I'd post this as it looks very nice :). Because my friend got me a membership, we both got these 1/4 ounce silver medallions. In case you're wondering the text is:
Everyone has their own unique story about how he or she got interested in coins and here’s mine. If you haven’t seen Part 1 yet, be sure to check it out before reading this so you don’t miss anything!
A large part of coin collecting is the research aspect. There is the common phrase, “Buy the book before the coin.” This also applies to websites, as well. Make sure to do your research before buying a coin. This is incredibly important so you don’t pay too much, so you know exactly what you’re getting, and so you know if it’s actually a good purchase, among other reasons. The following is a list of my favorite online coin research websites and the reasons why, whether it be for generalresearch, pricing, or numismatic news. I have not beensponsoredby any of these companies and the list is in no particular order.
