The Errors Heard 'Round the World!!! A HUGE week for error lovers, coin & currency!!!

Odd & Curious Money | Kurisu

I love weird. I love error coins!!! I love that moment when an error coin plops out of that roll I'm searching, makes me giggle :-)

This was a huge, massive, no STELLAR week for error lovers! I'm guessing there is about to be a renewed interest in error coins and currencies around the world. I'm not even a currency collector but wowee!!!

1st : We have a new 'Mule' error discovery coin! Yup, not a discovery of an error coin but THE discovery coin!

NGC Certifies First Known Sacagawea-Presidential Dollar Mule -https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/8794/ngc-grades-sacagawea-presidential-mule-discovery-coin/ If it goes to auction I'm going to guess it'll sell for at least half a million dollars...but also, check your change! No really, it was found in someone's change. So theoretically we all have a chance of spotting the 2nd one of these :-) It's a 2014-D Sacagawea on the obverse with a presidential dollar reverse (the statue of liberty design).

2nd: A $20 banknote with a banana sticker on it, no I'm not kidding!

The "Del Monte note," a rare$20 banknote with Del Monte sticker on it -https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/15/us/del-monte-note-up-for-auction-trnd/index.html Bidding is currently around $60,000 for this one. What's so special about it is it's likely that some prankster mint worker at some point ate their banana and found a way to slip the sticker onto a sheet of unprinted bills. The bill was then printed right over the sticker! It's quite stunning actually. It's referred to as an "obstruction error" and this is arguably the most spectacular obstruction printed note ever to appear. It's listed on Heritage Auction's site (HA.com) if you'd like to place your bid ;-)

Enjoy! Be safe out there!!!

You're welcome! Usually I'm not one of the first to know so that was fun!!!

I liked Coinworld's title of "Bananas " with errors. With all th elooking we do one of should find something soon. I just bought a beautiful MS-66 Merc with pronounced die clashes that I'll show on here soon.

I didn't understand the banana note when I first heard of it. The mule coin is interesting? How many could be out there and how did they create one mule coin ? I need to pay attention to my change !

One never knows. I check my currency for stars but I reckon I better take a closer look. I grew up with the fabulous Del Monte brand and lived next to one of their canneries. Maybe I should bid on that one. Thanks.
