Annex of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum

Exonumia | DrDarryl

Toured the Annex (Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia). They had a display of Charles Lindbergh medals and memorabilia. A very cool place to visit.

Nice to See the Smithsonian Institution Numismatic Gallery

Coins | DrDarryl

It has been some time for me in visiting the Smithsonian Institution American History Museum. I still remember the old display area they had. However, the their Numismatic Gallery is really nice. The pull-out drawers is interesting. I was surprised to pull out their 1804 silver dollar collection. I also found a few gold coins in other display areas. One of my previous numismatic interest were gold slugs of which I had 2 in my collection.

President Eisenhower's Personal Coin Collection

Coins | DrDarryl

As I was performing additional research relating to the President of the United States Appreciation Medals (formerly known as Presidential Medal of Appreciation) for an in-progress book, I located documents from the National Archive and Records Administration (NARA) which clearly show the inventory of President Eisenhower's personal coin collection. Also, the donation of President Eisenhower's entire coin collection to the Smithsonian Institution. This would be an interesting future article for the monthly ANA magazine that I may write.
